This was my mom's favorite movie. It was the first ever "adult" movie I was allowed to watch. We watched it so many times together when I was little. She passed away a few weeks ago after battling cancer a second time. The title and vibes of this song fit so perfectly with how I feel. I'm sad she's gone but I'm glad she's free of her cancer pains and is in a better place Edit (6/30/22): Thank you to everyone for the kind words. I have never, ever been prouder in my life, and I can tell you that I probably never will be again. I honoured my gladiator; my hero. Like Maximus, his fight was over only after he lived long enough to ensure everything was okay for his family. When I was 6 years old I snuck behind the couch to watch this movie way past my bedtime. My parents had basically no idea, but towards the end of the movie I was crying because Maximus died. I can't explain it, but the thrill of being caught, plus watching such a great movie and seeing it for the first time was so special. I'll never have that experience again.

My mother passed away last month after 50 happy years on Earth, she was the victim of a bicycle accident 3 years ago and was in a coma up till now. Gladiator was one of her favorite movies and the scene when Maximus walks across the field to join his family never failed to make her cry even after countless rewatches over the years. This song is just too good and it will be played as the final song for her funeral as she takes her final trip across the fields. Everytime I listen to it I get all warm and happy and I can feel her presence somehow. It is a sad song but it is also hopeful, it gives me hope that I will one day see her again when it’s my turn to walk across the fields...but not yet, not yet.

About 12/13 year ago my dad made a video of us all camping in the Lake District, England. It's funny how this is the only memory with my father 20 years ago. He left me and my mother when I was 7. He married to another woman, has another children. However, even though he doesn't know, I still remember this movie watching it with him and writing this comment with tears in my eyes. When my mum passed and I was at her funeral, this song went through my head constantly, at the end of the funeral I stood by her coffin and quietly (or so I thought) said to myself "I will see you again, but not yet, not yet" turns out my dad heard me and laid his hand on my shoulder and just sadly smiled at me, its a moment between me and him I will never forget, those we love never truly leave us, they stay in our hearts and we carry them with us, always, I am not embarrassed to cry when I hear this song, it reminds me that life can be short and we will see our loved ones again, some day, till that day however, I will be the very best I can be and join them with pride and happiness.
