What a masterpiece. Have you noticed ? Unlike many, Ridley Scott doesn't rely on music when filming duels. That was the case in "The last duel", Gladiator 1 & 2 and probably other movies he directed. You just hear the shock of the blades, which makes it much more real, brutal, intense and suspenseful.

I think the villain was brilliant and ruthless in the movie. I watched Gladiators 2️⃣, which was disappointing. The two brother villains giggles like a bunch of school girls 👭. Denzel Washington grinned like a toothpaste advert for Colgate! 😁! Gladiator (2000) = 90% 👍 Gladiator 2 (2024) = 40% 👎

It makes sense. Rewatch his encounteer with Lucilla. Se tell that she loved him and she felt alone all her life except with him. Perhaps during his soldier career maximus had sex with Lucilla (because he was trusted by Marc Aurelius) and Lucius was born. But it wolud be a shame for roman society to a princess have a child with a soldier, so she makes people think that Lucius is Lucius Verus' son
