In the pits of Kaon Megatron was used to fighting opponents much bigger and stronger than himself. After the war started he was just fighting Autobots and Optimus, and he’s very used to fighting them. The insecticon warrior was the first opponent bigger than him that he fought after a millennia of just Optimus. So it’s pretty reasonable that he’s be exhausted afterwards. But he recovered pretty quickly.
