Always glad to see honesty on videos, that’s why we always come back Keith. I avoided this release for the same reason could not see where they were getting a £50 price tag from. Not the biggest gladiator fan anyway, it’s a great movie and I own it but always preferred master and commander 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just think this was a try hard release, tried to do too much and failed but saying that if it was a film I love things could of been different. What really frustrates me about this release is I went on to Amazon Spain and it was going for 42 euro. Somebody actually told me he got it for 30 euro and that's the price it should be and if it was that price I would be more than happy to pick it up and stick with it. It is by no means a terrible release but you can see certain elements where they definitely cut corners. The plastic Steelbook stand is a good for instance. I've already sent mine back and I'm going to hold off and see if it drops down even more sometime in the future and then I might consider picking it up. Thank you so much Paul for stopping by

Agree with the EverythingBlu being the nicest edition and I don't need another. Nothing is topping that one for me. I had the UHD Club one and sold it. It was great had they not used low res image on the cover that was upscaled. Super amateur hour. But still would not had been as nice as the everythingBlu. I can't wait for them to get back to doing their own releases again. The only thing was at the end, doing only editions with existing steelbooks, sometimes I was not a fan of that steel and then was tough one as to buy or not. But I get it. It was not cost effective for them to do their own steels. Rare anyone does anymore. Most of the time I don't like steel that comes with it. That helps me be more selective though and only get ones I love. All of it. Not just the slip. The GREATEST thing about EverythingBlu was they did not allow these group buys to get 95% of the edition ahead of time, and so when it went up for pre-order, 5 seconds later sold out. You can't get a copy. I don't want to be forced to do a group buy and pay more or have to get aftermarket for way more. I passed on a couple of theirs at the end but I think I have 90% of all their releases. Prior to joining Zavvi. Can't wait to see what they come back with first. :)

One of everythingblu representatives contacted me two weeks ago and he said to me they have some very exciting news for this year. He said no more about it but I'm very excited to see what they are going to come out with. To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing them going back to their original format like the Gladiator release. I think it's a win-win either way. I definitely don't own everything from them but I do have a few releases and there's also a few I missed out on that I'm kicking myself. The Mummy collection is one in particular. Would do anything to get my hands on it but as you know it's going for absolutely crazy money on eBay. These people there must be living in a dream world if they think they will get €300 for such a release. I'm hoping someday I will get lucky and find one at the right price.

Nice1 Keith 👍It's a night and day effect when you hold up that "Everything blu" release...the Titans one is "meh...very boring front of the box" and the EB one is "WOW !!! That is stunning ! I would LOVE to have that !". I guess some of the gladiator imagery is so iconic and well-used that Titans were trying to be a bit different...but when you think about all the other great moments/characters in the movie it feels like there were so many other options and this was a poor effort...same with the steel book and disk art imo. On the plus side I do quite like the back and the subtle/stylish way they have some of those great lines displayed, I also like that subtle image of the opponent gladiator mask (but it needs to be rotated 90 degrees imo). Definitely not worth the asking price...but I bet your EB one is now worth 2-3x what you paid for it by now ! 🙂

The problem I had with the Steelbook is why did they not continue what you see on the front on the back. If there are really trying to recreate the look of his armor they definitely should have introduced a lot more of that on the back of the Steelbook. It's almost like they got bored and said screw it the front will do. It is by no means a bad looking box set. Like I said in the video it's rather solid but it's not 50 pounds worth of solid. If I got it for around 35 I would have been absolutely ecstatic. All I can do now is hope that Titans will take some of the feedback and see if they do a price drop in the future. If not that's me done when it comes to being a customer. The everythingblu edition was actually given to me as a gift but apparently it's going for crazy money. I got this one Keith! $69.99 in the US I didn't think was bad at all. I DO agree with you that the steelbook itself is kinda meh... especially compared to the gorgeous world wide exclusive Gladiator 4k steelbook... which I also have. I haven't opened my Titans set yet so after your review you have me thinking twice. Prices for these in the US are already over $100usd so I wont have a problem reselling it, its just a matter of if I want to keep it.

I was just made aware that Amazon Spain are selling them for only 40 Euro and that's the price they should be. As a matter of fact if you pre-ordered it from Amazon Spain a month ago you would have got it for 30 euro. Something's telling me that might have been an Error though. Somebody notified me that Amazon Spain was selling it for €30 which is around 25 pounds. I went over and it's not that price now but it is 40 Euro which is around 35 pounds and that's the price it should be. I might go over there and pick one up

It's like you said Keith, for one to keep on collecting the Titans editions the movie has to be something special and it still is a hard buy. I personally did not own Gladiator on 4k so this was a easy buy for me even tough the price did sting a bit. The Supreme edition I do not even consider.. totally overpriced. After commenting on this box set in a previous video, I have reached the same decision as you Keith in that I am definitely bowing out of any future Titans releases. As you suggested, it does feel like they have tried to emulate The Film Vault style of release but with sole emphasis being on profit margins rather than providing a quality product. I would actually find it quite enjoyable if there were to be a Film Vault version of Gladiator just to throw further shade on what feels like a real cash grab from Titans. I also wanted to mention the plastic stand that comes with this set. Maybe it is just the one I have, but it is such a snug fit that I think there is a real risk of damaging my steelbook if I were to force it in. Again, this perhaps speaks to the lack of care and general laziness that appears to have went into this set. Keep up the great work👍

Hey Teo. You know what I was thinking the exact same thing as yourself when I came to the film vault range. I think it would be absolutely fantastic if they decided to bring out a release of Gladiator this year and show Titans how it should have been done. I'm not saying that film vault is perfect there's definitely issues with their releases as well mainly the crystal you get inside it and the damage it causes but the presentation on the film vault range is so far ahead of this release it is quite frightening and there's no way I could ever justify a £50 Price Tag. All we can do is hope that Titans listens to the feedback and bring their prices down but you know as well as I do it's never going to happen. Be careful with that stand by the way my friend. Mine was very tight and somebody in the comment section tonight said his wouldn't even fit the Steelbook. But thank you as always for stopping by

@@millerman9991 Absolutely correct Keith, The Film Vault do need to look at the housing for their crystals. Out of the eight releases I have, all arrived with the crystal having pushed the housing retaining flaps down, with three of them having a little bit of damage to the housing. It would of course be the sold out releases that had the damage so exchanging wasn’t really an option. While not a game changer for me as the damage to each was quite minimal, it does still niggle at me when I open the sets to watch one of those movies.

I had the exact same problems as well my friend. Of all the releases the One Edition I didn't want any damage on was the one that had the most and it was Jaws. Thankfully just like yourself it was somewhat minimal and as you know it sold out quite quickly so leaving it back was never going to be an option. I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order. It's not as much about money as it is about having some self-respect because at this point they're just trying to see how much they can milk us for, especially at the end of an era of physical media they themselves are forcing upon us or at least the masses. £39.99 is the absolute maximum a special/limited/collectors edition should cost if it doesn't have a bust and I paid that much many times (most recently for Wolf Of Wall Street from Arrow that you once presented) but no matter how much I love a movie, I won't pay a penny more. £40 really is the limit when it comes to releases like this. Unfortunately Titans do have a reputation for price hikes but this is probably one of the worst I have ever seen. If you think this release is bad check out the supreme edition that cost double. I'm still baffled to why they would charge so much for such a bare bones release. Like I said in the video for me to spend 50 pounds on a release like this it's going to have to be a very special movie. Not to say that gladiator is not special but I already had two amazing releases and I felt I didn't need a third and I should have been just happy with what I had. Hey David. To be honest I actually miss the plastic cases that we originally got. I don't know about you but there's something unique about the way the outer artwork clashes with the Steelbook inside and it feels like Titans have thrown away what makes their releases unique. Don't get me wrong it's a solid box set and if it was 10 pounds cheaper chances are I would have kept it. Unfortunately I will not be picking up Mean Streets any time soon. Hi Keith, Been looking forward to this Titans of Cult release of "Gladiator" especially as i have that EverythingBlu editio, so i wanted to see this & compare as its one of my fav all time movies. For me Titans of Cult could of done a whole better, as the majority of their releases sometimes come short with a lack of detail & the bits that have included, & it doesn"t even come close to the EverythingBlu. Titans of Cult are well overpriced for me, as they put out lacklustre releases for me, its not terrible but it really deserves a whole lot better for the fans.

My biggest problem with Titans and this release is you can clearly see they were looking at the film vault Range and they definitely wanted to recreate what they had done with this release but unfortunately they decided to do it in a cheap way. Like I said in the video the Steelbook stand is cheap plastic where you do get a glass crystal with the film vault range. Yes I know you don't get a Steelbook with the film vault but like I said you don't need a Steelbook with every collectors edition. What kills me even more is you can actually buy this same release on Amazon Spain for 40 Euro. So I actually might go over and pick one up because I actually left this back. Titans need to bring there prices down and if they don't they are going to lose so many customers

My favourite editions are the Arrow video limited editions, with the rigid slipcases. I am also not bothered if they contain a steelbook or not. I prefer to buy Steelbooks separately, so I can display them. I get magnetic tape and stick them to the wall, it’s a beautiful way to display them.

These kind of editions are outside my price range so I'm not the target audience, but I always check your videos on them anyway (love seeing some of those gorgeous releases!) and I have to say you get very little for a lot of money with this one. Two useless items and a couple of cards isn't enough. I like the goodies to be related to the movies they come with, and at minimum I expect a poster (preferably with the original artwork, every release should have the original art included somewhere in my opinion). I think this steelbook could've been salvaged had they done the armour all round it. The front cover does look nice I think, but why not have the armour continue on the back as well? That would make it a unique looking steel I think.

£50 was too hard for me to take when it comes to a release like this. Normally the Titans releases are around 30 to 35 pounds and look at what your 15 pounds is getting you with the new one. New packaging and a cheap plastic Steelbook stand. It's simply not good enough.

I've resisted buying this, i even contemplated going for the supreme edition with the metal posters but i wanted to wait for your opinion on it since i know you are huge fan of the movie. And you just confirmed my suspicion of it... not worth it at all. No new exclusive bonus features or discs etc. I've got a regular 4k+BD edition for 10 euros and i'm happy with it.

I never would question anyone that would go out and buy this version or even the Supreme Edition whatever makes people happy that's the most important thing to me. But I have to be truthful and I honestly don't see the value in this edition and if you are happy with your €10 4K release then I would encourage you to stick with it. Chances are in a couple of months time this edition will drop down in price. I've noticed its back in stock on Amazon and I don't think there is a set limited number on it so you never know. (which is very fortunate after seeing both editions) It was either these or tattoos & I chose the latter. Like you I’ve a few editions including steel books. I'm not going to lie but if there's ever one movie that does not need a sequel it is Gladiator. The only thing that has me somewhat intrigued is the fact that Denzel Washington is in it and of course it's been directed by Ridley Scott

Was curious about others thoughts. I got mine the other day. I did like the release. But, this is my first from Titans of Cult. So I had no reference to compare to. I can see why you were disappointed. My major issue was the crystal stand. Was very snug and not smooth. Can easily scratch the steelbook. I'm not into spending big money on premium sets...can't afford to. But this one I jumped at since I am big fan of Gladiator. So no, I will not buy everything that comes from ToC. It will depend on title.

I think that's the most important thing is you're happy with how it looks then that's all that matters. I thought it was a very solid edition I just wish it was a lot cheaper. I've already sent my release back but I'm almost certain but I could be wrong when I say this but where the Steelbook goes inside the stand is there not some sort of added padding inside to protect the Steelbook from scratches. I'm almost certain i remember seeing something like that. Hopefully it will protect it. Like I said in the video it's going to take a very special movie for me to warrant spending that kind of money on a release like that. Not to say that gladiator is not special but as you can see in the video I already have two fantastic Editions on 4K and chances are I should have stuck with them. For someone with limited space those film vault versions are a stupid size, manufactures should keep them so normal sizes, i agree the Everythingblu is amazing for the price and looks way better than the TOC, the worst thing about the TOC version is those artcards, daft behind the scenes photo’s, there are tons of great images from the movie they could have chosen, i do like what they’ve done though as an overall package and moved away from the crap plastic outer box that doesn’t close properly

I am not limited for space I simply said I wouldn't have the room to display every Steelbook that Titans bring out from here on in. I don't mind how oversized the film vault range Editions are. I'm paying 50 pounds for them the bigger the better. As for the postcards that you get inside this edition I would definitely prefer behind the scenes pictures more than stills from the movie because you can simply knock on the movie just to see them. Ideally when it comes to the postcards I would love to see unique poster artwork for Gladiator. You see it every now and again with certain releases. I actually thought the plastic cases was somewhat unique when it came to Titans. I'm not sure about yourself but I love the way the artwork almost clashed with the Steelbook and pin inside the release.

Just a couple of weeks ago I suddenly realised I didn't own Gladiator on 4k Blu-ray yet. I was looking at what edition to buy, but this Titans of Cult release just didn't do it for me. I didn't have this feeling of "Yeah, this is an edition I have to own." Not at all. Then I saw the regular Amaray Edition in a "3 for 50 Euro" sale on Amazon Germany, so I just went for this option. I like Special Editions, but I was so underwhelmed by this release. So, in this case, the Amazon Germany deal was a much better option. Now I've got three 4k Blu-rays for the same price as this Titans of Cult release.

I think that's the most important thing Patrick if you were happy with the deal that you got on gladiator then that is the most important thing. The 4K transfer is the exact same on this release it looks absolutely beautiful and I'm not one bit surprised to hear that you were somewhat underwhelmed by this release. Don't get me wrong it's far from terrible but it's by no means exciting either. If there was a price drop chances are I would have kept it but I can't justify spending 50. It's a shame because I love the Titans label and the movie itself but as you can see in the video I already have some amazing Editions for it already so it's not a big deal to leave this one back. @@millerman9991 I've watched the 4k Blu-ray last weekend, and it definitely looks incredible. True, "by no means exciting" is a good description of this release. I do love that EverythingBlu release. To me, that's just the release this movie deserves. It looks absolutely amazing. Love the artwork on that release. That's a release I would've spent my money on, but I had no idea where to buy it. Except for paying 300 Euro on eBay, of course. That's why I just went for the deal on Amazon Germany.

...and on the other side of the coin: I love mine (limited edition)! Nice quality rigid box (magnetic clasp would have been even nicer) with discrete spot gloss phrases & images, well chosen colour scheme and graphics, Maximus' armour as an embossed steelbook (brilliant), a useful steelbook stand (instead of a useless block of glass - maybe a paperweight) to show off that steelbook (maybe when company are around to watch the movie), and artwork on the three discs. Not too fussed about the pin either, nor the art cards (though the supreme edition ones are nice, albeit not double-sided either), and an info. booklet (maybe behind the scenes) would have been nicer. This new ToC design is better than the previous pop-up scratchy plastic cutting box. Agreed, a £40 mark would be fair, but that goes for any (single film and/or multiple cut) special or limited edition really, and as you say £60'ish for anything ultimate or above. Of course if you don't suffer from FOMO, then there is always the chance of an offer...

Again this is not an attack on the release itself it's more its price. I'm sorry to say but the Steelbook stand makes absolute no sense to me whatsoever and the reason why I prefer the glass crystal on the film vault range is because I almost treat it as a certificate of authenticity. It gives you your number and I felt it was a clever way of doing it even though I have to admit it caused problems with those editions. I thought the plastic cases we got previously from Titans is what made them unique. I don't know about you but I loved the way the outer artwork clashed with the Steelbook and pin inside. It almost gives you this three-dimensional effect and it's almost like Titans have thrown away the one thing that made them unique. Not to say that I don't mind a hard rigid box as well but you see it all the time. I think in the end once you're happy with your release that's the most important thing. Each to their own, and I think the Film Vault quality plastic slip over a quality box is nice, but the ToC plastic box & innards reminds me of some cheap unrecyclable sharp material housing something like in a Pound Shop, or Walmart to be thrown away (not the contents) after opening. Agreed, Film Vault editions are decent value and superior by far to ToC whatever iteration, and £40 max for the latest ToC release(s), but give me that functional stand any day over a glass etched block! I think the first ToC release e.g. (Blade Runner) were c. £35 for essentially a nice steelbook in some throwaway plastic, with an annoying flap I've seen one reviewer tape down with duct/gaffer😂, so not bad value considering the price of a steelbook. Wow Keith big decision, and i cancelled mine at the last minute myself. I definitely agree £50 is too much if you look at something like blade runner, jaws, scarface film vaults. You do also have better editions so I'd say put it towards another edition. I'm still interested to know which films they pick next, I'm sure they'll make a few I want surely, but like yourself it would have to be something Halloween, predator, terminator level to tempt me.

I have to admit Steve one of the reasons to why I decided to send it back is because it is 61 euro and as you know I'm looking to pick up the child's play release and if I add an extra 50 to that 60 Euro that will get me the child's play Edition and when you compare both it's a bit of a no-brainer. Here's an idea. Everybody pre-order a few copies next time and cancel 1 week before release - I guarantee you the prices will go down drastically and rapidly cuz let's not kid ourselves, more often now than before they will only produce slightly more copies than they have pre-orders from announcement to release day.

You're just saying what I think about this release. 60 euro more for a metal poster isn't worth the price for me. Didn't hsve a premium Gladiator edition so I'm sticking to it. But it feels just a bit to expensive. The boxset itself is beautiful and feels deluxe. But the steelbook itself looks a bit random. Like some pictures has been trowing at the case to see what sticks. It doesn't feel like a cohesive artwork/design. The pins itself never did anything for me. But what I miss is the unique character of the ToC boxsets. Yes the plastic was a bit flimsy. But the shine through case with the artwork of the steelbook and the pin creates a beautiful 3D design if you look at a lot of those older editions. That makes them unique. This boxset looks nice, but it doesn't have a unique selling point anymore. Nonetheless I'm happy with the set and it looks stunning. But it's also a bit underwhelming! Have to admit Robert it's very refreshing to hear somebody praise the Old plastic cases that we originally got and that's exactly how I felt about them as well. The way the outer artwork clashed with the Steelbook inside I thought was quite unique and you never see that with any other label out there. So whatever made Titans unique they've literally thrown it away. Don't get me wrong the Gladiator release is very solid and I quite like it but not for 50 pounds. So I have already left it back and if I see it again sometime in the future down to around 35 40 I will definitely reconsider buying it again. If it sells out so be it. As you can see in the video I have two of the most amazing 4K releases of Gladiator so it won't be the end of the world. There is days when I have a few minutes I will sit in this room and go through a lot of these releases. They give me Joy and that's why I like collecting the more deluxe Editions out there. I was more than happy paying the £30 for the previous releases but why they felt it was necessary to put the price up to 50 pounds because of new packaging and a plastic Steelbook stand I will never fully understand. Well they've lost a customer

I just sent mine back today. I've noticed it's still on Amazon so you never know maybe in a couple of months it will drop down in price. Thank you for checking it out

Like I said in the video if it was somewhat cheaper I would have being content to hold onto it but I've decided to leave it back as a matter of fact it's gone already. It's a shame because I am a fan of the label

Eeeesh, that steelbook is super lame. Wow. As a whole, weak. I bounced from them a ways back and glad. They have only gotten worse.

I don't think it's the worst steelbook I have ever seen but I felt very underwhelmed by it. To be honest I actually miss the Old plastic cases. I'm sure I'm the only one who thinks that
