I've commented on previous segments. While you were filming this, I was very near death in the hospital from COVID, and I couldn't smell the earth in my garden that I loved so much. But since then, I get the simple joy of working in my garden, and that wonderful earthy smell, though I might have gone overboard on gardening......or not! Keep up the good work you two. GoCougs!!

❤ thank you for this I bought three or four packs of 50 gladiolus bulbs from Costco. I started succession, planting a few each week in water inside the house. I love how they look.

When we sold my father’s house in NJ I moved some of the gladiolus plants to Georgia. They had already bloomed in NJ so I wasn’t expecting any activity until the spring. Today is the first day of 2022 and one of them is about to bloom. Totally baffled!

Hi Guys, You both are so good with your videos. thanks for the great info on Glads. I have groen some amazing ones in red and white, deep purple and white. Black and white. Love them. This year I had a whole pot of JUST LEAVES. Only a few flowered. Ones I planted direstly into the soil had grea flowers. I live in Hamilton, Canada. I suspect wer we are Zone 6 B. My glads that did well was in dappled shade east facing. The ones that were in a pot were in the backyd which is west facing. Hopefully next yr i will get them into the ground in time. They look great with the Cardinalis. and the dahlias. They are happy plants. thks for ur video. u both are swesome. All the best and stay safe.

Nice video. Could you any tip for me? I had planted the corms in a pot and I see 3-5 shoots coming out from one corm. What I am suppose to do? I'd really seeking a tip. Thank you
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tungala! 👋 We don't know of any Gladiolus corms being able to produce multiple shoots from one single bulb, but it doesn't mean it isn't possible. Plants are tremendoulsy amazing and can surprise us with new characteristics all the time. 😉 So, not to worry. Not that you don't know, but are you sure the bulbs you have are Gladiolus bulbs? Or possibly, are you certain you are looking at the top of the Gladiolus bulbs and not the bottom? It's hard, many times to know the difference between top and bottom of these bulbs because they sometimes are sold with no physical roots showing so the top and bottom look really similar. If you aren't sure which end is top or bottom, you can plant the bulb on it's side (round-ish area) and the two flat sides oriented horizontally. This way, your bulbs can choose for themselves to grow correctly and it can take the worry out of it. With all this, not to worry and just enjoy your gladiolus. Hope all this helps! We will be discussing your question on our LIVE today at 9am, so if you can swing by to say "Hi" and talk with everyone there about anything gardening. Hope to see you there! 😃👍😎🌞

If i cut the flowers for an indoor vase, will the plant produce new flowers or will i just be left with the green leaves? I planted these for the first time, no flowers yet just green leaves.

I moved into a house that has beautiful flowers out front. One of them being glads. When the flower is die I Goff how do I handle it. Pinch only the flower or cut off the whole flower. Also there is a spiked round thing that grows there if I don’t cut off the stem. What is it and what do I do with it. Plant it. Please answer all of my questions. I know there are a lot.

My glad bulbs are having oodles of babies. How would you handle this?
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! 👋 Thank you for watching and commenting. Good question. If we had a lot of baby-glads ready to be planted from overwintering them and storage, we would still plant them out in our garden. Since they are baby bulbs, they most likely won't flower the first year or two, or even three, BUT they still need to go through these first couple of years to develop and mature so that they can then grow flowers in later years. We would plant them and space them accordingly, 5-6 inches apart or further, and enjoy them this summer. 😉 If you have baby-glads that are popping up out of the ground (they are hardy in your area and you didn't have to dig them up to store over the winter), we would possibly thin them out and move them to new locations, either near their current location or somewhere completely different. Again, they should have 5-6 inches of space to grow. We hope this helps and enjoy your baby-glads! 😉👍

So my question is this. My plants are about a month old. The leaves are prob about a foot n half long but I'm seeing some of them (all planted in the same bed) the leaves are starting to droop.... They are bright green, no yellow-ing, or sign of disease. Is this normal for them? As i said its only a couple of them that are droopy... Should i be alarmed? Really need some help. Thank you!
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Hi 37Sith! 👋 Thank you for watching our video and for asking your questions! We hope we are getting to you and your glads in time. The drooping could be from over or under watering, but could also be from intense heat/sun. To know if it's over or under watering, the easiest thing to do is to dig in the surrounding soil around your glads to see and feel how moist or dry the soil is. You can then move on to the intense heat/sun if the soil moisture is good. Glads like consistently moist soil, just for a clear measure for you. If you have had some intense heat/sun leading up to your droopy leaves, then this could also be the main cause or if in conjunction with any over or under watering. We hope all this helps and your glads are super healthy and happy. Thanks again for watching! 😉👍💪

@@SpokenGarden thank you! I was able to figure it out and found that because of all of the intense heat we have been having, they were being under watered.... They have perked back up since i figured it out and rectified it. It's usually not this hot in Maine this time of the year! We are at the start right now of yet another heat wave with it being 95 out and tomorrow beingthe same
