Gladys Knight in Smokey Joe's Cafe

Special Edition celebrates with Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight, known as "The Empress of Soul" and the cast of "Smokey Joe's Cafe" for her 45th Anniversary in show business at the Virginia Theatre in New York City.
Gladys along with the cast sang the Rock 'N' Roll / Motown Hits of the 50's & 60"s that were penned by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Afterwards Special Edition had the privilege of celebrating with Gladys and the cast at the after party.
Special Edition spoke with Gladys to find out a little about herself and performing with the cast of Smokey Joe's. Also, the cast offered a little insight on working with Gladys Knight, such as Musical Director Louis St. Louis, DeLee Lively, Victor Trent Cook, B.J. Crosby, Frederick B. Owens and Brenda Braxton. Many of her fans and theatre goers weighed in as well.
