This is the closest we can get to a time machine! I wish I could go back and see these old places just once. 😢

Wow thanks for what looked like the Rio cinema at the end of Maryhill Road at large roundabout going up too Bearsden Cross.

Virtually no one had a WEIGHT problem in those days. In all of the photos I've looked at, 99.9% of folk are about average weight & size. Back then, most people ate home-made food, not processed foods out of tins and packets.
@colinburrowes8063 Жыл бұрын
People in the past ate more simple, natural food. You don't know what you are eating nowadays.

Hi watching these photographs brings back lots of memories I did not live in Glasgow but my late Father was a lorry driver way back he delivered to all the many biscuit factories in and around Glasgow also soft drinks companies. looking at these was magical,the children were children no mobile phones,computers etc the only tablets the had you got at the corner shop along with puff candy macaroon bars, the pictures of them playing in back courts are priceless no trainers or designer tracksuit just what you had,yes times may have been hard but they soldiered on,sorry for going on but the children now don't know the meaning of growing up,regards and best wishes from Greenock ❤🤸⛹️🤾

I agree Patrick, we have technology but we have lost so much more. I lived in Glasgow until I was 9, now 65, I'm taking a look back.

Wonderful to see some of older Glasgow. My Grandparents and my mother came out of the Gorbels and moved to London just prior to WW2. The Gorbels, as you know, no longer exists and there are few pictures of that sad area or era (s). Todays Glasgow should be a must see destination for anyone who likes to travel.

Thank you John, my dad was born and brought up in 'The Gorbals' (1923). The Gorbals still exist, though the area has been modernised.

Your Dad and my Mother would have been exactly the same age. She was a McCallum ( gm side ) - Rudden (gf side) I wonder if they knew each other. Thanks for the reply. Cheers. @@colinburrowes8063

Still a rough area. My son had his nose broken there a few years ago when he was mugged on his way to Nautical College.

Thank you Robert, some people actually enjoy the music. Turn the volume down or how about earplugs.
