Wow now I know why a good piece costs so damn much. You have given me a new respect for blowers I thought they were just assholes that over priced their shit but now I know it must cost a lot of money to keep torch running and it looks like it takes a lot of skill to make glass like that. Keep it up.

@zigcom42 there is a rubber washer between the bong and the bowl. That stops the glass on glass contact

Absolutely. That's what makes the difference between a bong that costs 600 bucks (A true 7mm all around RooR Behemoth) and one that costs 80 (5mm on the tube and 3.2mm or less where it's been blown out).

Spooder Man they mean a carby aka shotty u let go of a hole in the bong and the air that comes through pushes the smoke up into your lungs, like instead of taking the cone piece out, its mostly an Australian thing.

yes, lift the bowl and suck air through the down stem into the water. it still gives you that blast of fresh air but you dont have a hole in your bbong and you dont have to use two hands to hit it.

@homeslicery9213 жыл бұрын
@GregTheCreator the blowtorches youd find from say home depot wont work (ive tried believe me) and the flame is too small heat enough of the glass up to really work it esp using pyrex which is designed to be heat resistant

@joejumps4fun I managed to get set up from scratch for roughly $2000. $2200 or so if I had gone with the better torch I was looking at. This includes a Paragon SC2 kiln at $600ish, and the Sundance #420 pipemakers kit for $420, and then I spent some on propane and oxygen (had to pay a deposit, and then I have to pay for the cylinder exchange) plus a new propane regulator. The rest I spent on other tools not included in the kit, and especially heavy-wall borosilicate tubing/rods of all sizes!

Bryan “B.Down” K is a creative force and small business owner in the Twin Cities, widely-known and respected for his unique skill for glass-blowing. Born and raised in the cultural center of North Minneapolis, he began his glass blowing journey at the early age of 17 as an apprentice, in exchange for a promise to a mentor that he would avoid the troubles of street life. As an ambitious young man expecting his first child, this appealed to his desire to grow while providing for his new family. After nearly a year dedicated to studying the finer points of the craft, he began to invest in his own equipment to operate from a home workshop, in order to balance the needs of building his business and family. Several years into his progression, B.DowN’s skill and business grew to a size requiring a larger space to expand on his projects- so, he relocated his shop to the bustling area of uptown Minneapolis, in partnership with the popular smoker’s destination, Glassland. For the next four years, Bryan’s relationships and portfolio of work expanded to multiple clients and artists across the Twin Cities region and beyond. Always diligent in advancing his craft and successes, B.Down’s vision for his work continues to evolve: for the last few years, he has trained over 10 apprentices in the art and science of glass blowing, and plans to work with countless others in his newest (and independently-ran) studio space, equipped with multiple workstations, where aspiring glassblowers (including members of his family) are under his tutelage. Alongside his professional trade, B.DowN is also an active member of the Twin Cities Music scene, where he facilitates the growth and development of numerous artists through his multi-purpose workshop space, which for many years has included a recording studio.B.Down is a family man, independent thinker, entrepreneur, and artist who continues to impact and influence other creatives across the Twin Cities arts community.

Mostly people apprentice for it. Find a local shop or guy doing it, show you really are interested in it, and they'll show you. You'll have to buy your own materials, and it can take a long time. It's like learning an instrument; you start with real simple, little things and work your way up.
