Not true on Karolyi. I was a gymnast apart of USAG then and they were tough but that is what makes champions. They had buffets to pick food from most of the time. So weak minded girls didn't make it but strong girls did. The problem was Nasaar and the parents. Yet nobody puts light on the parents that pushed their kids or not feed them right. They should not have let Nasaar be alone with girls at any time so that was wrong but the parents themselves were in the room many times while he was abusing them and didn't see it themselves so that is not on the Karolyis entirely. Parents didn't even know or blew off their kids when they were told. They were not rude that is their culture. Nobody forced the girls to go and stay in the sport, they chose it.

Totally agree - well said. In my view if they wanted to get ex Eastern European/communist coaches like the Karolyi's - they were going to get an extremely strict, no messing, no sugar coating type of regime - that get's results - What did people actually expect!

were you a male gymnast or female, because once they got to the ranch they couldn't just opt out. Also explain the extreme eating disorders and fat shaming then, losing weight is one thing but being anorexic or bulimic is completely different and can be deadly.
