@@TheRogueRockhound I think the idea of lumping two locations together that are very likely to be visited together is a smart way of putting a video together like this.

You found some great blues on your walk about! I wondered where you wandered off too!😂 It seems like walking around and getting to know the territory was the way to go. That’s what we did that second day before we left. Great video!! Your obsidian was bomb!!

I never found much below 2 feet at Hampton, and I have done quite well there. Randomly hitting a few spots til something produced worked best for me.

What’s the road like going up there to the camp area? I’m driving a little Volvo. 🤔 Not the ideal rockhounding vehicle. 😅

@@stephenhermansen1498 we live about an hour north of Burns. I so want to go to these two places. Just gotta find a rockhounding friend to go with. Solo trips are not nearly as fun.

I was at Hampton Butte in May 2022 together with my girlfriend, and we found some great stuff. She got a fistsized piece of green petwood with some chalcedony on it that looks almost like Chrysoprase, among a lot of smaller pieces of green petwood, while I got a perfectly reserved piece of a limb in great condition, partly with some hints of green and with great cell structure. Easily my best preserved piece of petwood I've ever found, and decent in size as well (about 3 inches tall). I also found a bunch of other pieces of green petwood, and while it is really exciting to look at, it definitely lacks the nice cell structure since it's all limbcasts. We also found a bunch of great chalcedony there. We've never been to Glass Buttes, though - I've seen it on the map a couple times and we've looked at it before, but we always thought it's just regular obsidian. Exciting to see it's actually rainbow, we might go for an obsidian hunt at some point soon as well.

Oh man, sounds like you did way better than me at Hampton. I found a couple smaller pieces, but nothing special. You def need to hit up GB, it great. Tons of varieties and super easy to find. The best stuff is underground, but its [mostly] easy digging. Thanks for watching and I hope to chat w/ you again soon ^^

Brother, great channel. Excellent content. In Bend visiting my daughter and heading to Hampton Butte tomorrow, Christmas Eve. I also dig a lot at Rabbit Basin for Or Sunstones. Denise is the awesome and sets me up at Spectrum. Have seen your content on sunstones as well. Inspired me to go, and now I'm hooked.

Thanks so much, bro! That’s awesome to hear. Hampton Butte is a fantastic spot - hope you have a great time out there. Denise at Spectrum is seriously the best; she knows her stuff and always takes care of rockhounds. Glad my sunstone content inspired you - it’s such an addictive hunt, isn’t it? Safe travels, happy holidays, and may you find some killer treasures out there!

Excellent video, buddy! Score on that gorgeous rainbow obsidian!! 🤩 That was rad seeing that red in there. Awesome chunks. And then on to Hampton Butte you found some really cool blue chalcedony and that one that maybe had plumes. Can always count on you to find some awesome jasper too. Maybe didnt find a bunch of petwood there, but that triangular light green piece was pretty sweet. Both of those locations are on my list of places to rockhound. Was excited to watch this one and saved it to watch during dinner. Green chile and cheese tamales. Have a great weekend, bro!

Some pretty cool rainbow! I need to get over there and get some! I have a few pieces of smaller Hampton green. Have you tried Bear Creek yet? Not at site one but at site two there is some very cool petrified wood. Dug up many over 50+lbs

Beautiful pieces, big and small at both spots! Hoping tomake it out there in the spring after the thaw. Question...the chisel hammer with the yellow handle you used at Glass Butte, where'd you get that!?! I'd love to add that style to my collection! As always, thanks for sharing and the helpful info!

@@2HighNoon 43.5407,-120.0180 Pits around here is where I have had the best color. The piece he showed in this video had better quality that what I have pulled out, but then again I trend to lazy and go for a lot of float and discards rather than dig deep myself.
