Glass Fire damage to historic Napa County wineries

My best friend and my younger brother and family live in the area, Petaluma, Cotati, and Santa Rosa. We head down a couple times a year, in the spring and fall and it's just one of the premier locations on the planet. I never buy wine at the grocery store, always from the wineries. My brother is a wine club member of a couple of them and so free tasting and discounted purchase. Also love to buy cheese, hit the nurseries, and it's just the saddest thing. Didn't get down the the spring because of Covid and now I'm wondering what's left. This is simply hideous. My nephew works for Gallo and they are a HUGE conglomerate so if they have been hit at all, they can get through it. Some of the small family wineries will never recover. The owners have put everything the have, financially and emotionally into their business and now it's gone. I am so very sorry.

I am so very very sorry as well. Small businesses are being stomped to the ground in a number of ways lately. If the economy hasn't done them in the rioting flooding fires and whatever else not mentioned has. So incredibly sad.

I think you could use a healthy dose of Hanlon's Razor - "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Case in point for this kind of thing would be the explosive device at the gender reveal party. Most fires started by humans are not arson but negligence. Also worth noting that the big round of fires in August were mainly started by unusual dry lighting storms. While some of these fires certainly can be linked to arson, I would caution against assuming something there is little to no evidence for.

There is nothing about the trees still standing around burnt vehicles or houses that is weird. Wildfires are not like a flood, an ember can ignite a single vehicle in a parking lot if there is a receptive fuel bed. We need to require attic vents that self-close in high winds, this will protect suburban track houses, but not so much rural structures in zones like Napa.

Lilith you are correct. Notice how the camera wont back up to get a wide shot. Trees burn first in a fully involved firestorm. The payed off scientific shills are lying or ignorant about these fires. To this day I've not seen one leaf burn from. Calif Bay or eucalyptus tree. Doesn't matter what species they'd all be pretty burned. Instead homes are white ash with metals left. Car windows melted, that never happens but in these fires every single window is melted, no exception. Alloy rims melted. Steel belted tires are completely burned down to black soil and nothing left but steel belt. Nearby is a tire with no belts and its not melted at all. Santa Rosa kincaid paradise big basin mt Hamilton and Vacaville fires were direct energy weapons. Digger pine only burned if it was very close in proximity to homes. Ive 300 photos that prove everything i say. Cant trick an old Arborist and botanist and mountain man that analyzed nature for 45 years. The fire captains and marshalls dont even know their trees or each ones flammability. I can mop the floor with either one. Watch John Lords videos on utube about these fires. A great friend now. Tell me just how the 2 most flammable trees in calif didnt burn one leaf. And how many extreme water lovers burned from the inside out. 130 ft tall eucalyptus with 7ft diameter burned all the way through, fell over and still didnt burn one leaf. How about wooden fence posts burning wood only where nails were attached. Agenda 21 folks. This is all by design. I bet zero fires started by lightning. Go ahead teach a. The glass fire was in proximity. The investigation has not been completed, however, in large fires with high wind conditions, the embers can fly many miles and cause spot fires.

These three counties have brutal fire seasons and scientists use data, models and field samples to determine what areas will be vulnerable for extreme fire weather. California and much of the west is in a drought, has had a record heat year and has ample fire fuel that is difficult to manage. And that's why fires are starting. It would be amazing though if there was a vast conspiracy in which tens of thousands of federal, state, county and city employees co-opted a plan as you describe AND coincidently fire scientists from NOAA, NASA, USFW, CalFire, and the California Department of Forestry also determined independently that this fire season has a higher chance of extreme fire behavior. And don't forget the climate scientists.

Glad to hear the mill is safe. The mill and water wheel is quite visible from the highway. Too bad they didn't go to the trouble to actually SHOW THE MILL. The only thing truly "historic" along Hwy 29 is the old Bale Grist Mill and the Christian Brothers winery. Everything else is mid- late 20th century new.
