I was fortunate enough to meet him and see him work, he is everything they said in this video, and a charming person as well. he is amazingly talented yet very modest. a very rare combination... i'm saving some pieces he made and wanted to throw away. :-)

I've had the immense pleasure of seeing Mr. Bill develop from a humble apprentice (though he had vast experience at lamp-work) at the beginnings of the NYEGW in NOHO) to see him flower into a Master Glassblaster, highly appreciated by his peers and head honcho at CMOG's studio. As luck would have it... had the chance to catch up with him a couple of years back while researching Andalucian glass at Corning. He's been the only solo artist practitioner I've known in this sport known for teamwork and choreography. Always been at it... since the start!

Maybe his ego stops him from working in groups? Bet he would create even more amazing works if in groups.

@@valken666 Ego?? If you watch his videos as we'll as the way he interacts with others you will see that he is far from being egotistical. He also has no issues pointing out where he has screwed up in a piece. No, wishing to work alone has nothing to do with ego. In fact, ego often needs a bunch of followers and people to order around in order to feel superior.

Hi guys. Take a look at our glassblowing channel! We have plenty of making videos filmed at Peter Layton's studio in London. A really fantastic studio to be part of, and the team are great fun to film, as they let me get right in amongst all the action! Anyway, hope you enjoy them, and if there's anything in particular you'd like to see, then please send a comment. Always happy to take requests! :-)

It probably would have been better to point out to him that limestone is a pretty common ingredient (along with sand) in making glass rather than just insulting him. Then maybe he'd learn something.

Not as many people appreciate bongs for their art or design, the big scene is mostly on functionality and cost efficiency. So if he made bongs, he would probably be making a lot of really lame but high costing glass tubes which would not attract many stoners. They would have wonderful art and design but, like i said, would also lack functionality of the percs and diffusers that any cut-rate bong designer can make (which is what i would buy).

Actually glass gets broken all the time in a glass studio. He is so good that he had to break a lot of it. You have to do that to become a glass master. Bill wouldn't even shrug. It is effortless for him.
