Theres no good windows at the yunkyard for obs 😩 and they don’t sell any more glass oem
@detailit Жыл бұрын
@JaxJax, I'm unsure of that. I just thought it would be cool if I could actually remove the fine scratches. I know my mistakes. I know I would have better luck if I did it again. rotary tool, better pressure, longer work time while watching heat.. thanks for watching, commenting! Take Care

I am about to try this on some 50 plus-year-old windows on a classic car. Thanks for the video. Now I am not too optimistic.

B Optimistic. Honestly I think I could have chosen a better tool . Also, check out carpro glass polish. Seems to be real good. I like 3m so I chose that 1... it will be ok.. hard work. 20 minutes straight , keep moist, add polish frequently.. good luck..

My scratch is on outside drivers side window. Will this hurt the tint on glass
@detailit3 жыл бұрын
As long as you are polishing outside (tint is on inside) you will be fine. 👍

@detailit3 жыл бұрын
@@billzahradnik3666 absolutely. Hope it helps. I used the wrong tool. Youd be much better off with a rotary polisher. It does take time. 20 minutes.. polish, wet, reapply polish... repeat...let me know if it turns out.. mine was an improvement... not great but better👍

U have to actually sand down the layers of glass until u get to the layer that the big scratch is at and than sand around it and start working your way up in say a paper grits higher the better and than compound and polish guarantee,that scratch will come out and the glass will look like BRAND SPANKING NEW
@detailit Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the tip. Yeah the tutorial I watched with Mike Phillips he didn't sand. I figured I'd give it a shot with the rayon pad and the cerium oxide polish. I may habmve to give the sanding method a try. Thank You!
@GregoryCain94 Жыл бұрын
Gotta wet sand it first lower to higher sand paper than use compound and polish

I recommend wearing a mask. Tiny glass particles are grinding off. I bought cerium oxide powder and it states one small amount? Per gallon of water.

Hey there. Thanks for that info. I must admit that was NOT. A good video. This should have been done with My Rotary... thanks for the info and thanks for watching!

@@detailit I'm going to be experimenting. I'll let you know. Don't mind the critics. You said you were trying for the first time. It takes lots of effort to learn what works and what doesn't. Peace ✌️

Would you recommend use if it in paint?
@detailit Жыл бұрын
Hi, No I wouldn't. I believe This abrasive is harder than other paint polishes. I ALWAYS recommend CSI CERAM-X polish for paint , headlights and plastic. Thanks for watching. Take care!

Lol... ok. Not sure if that's good or bad.... It does work but I think I chose the wrong machine... the drill was a tad hard to control at times... also, it works much better if you can get a helper to mist the glass every few passes... it's long and tiring .. need a tad but of down pressure... lol... enjoy ..

I want to get that stuff to get scratched out of my glasses but that stuff is like $80 bucks!! Do you think it’s a good or bad idea to clean my glasses with this product??
@detailit2 жыл бұрын
Ooof... I'm guessing it would be bad... maybe try other more gentle polishes first that are much cheaper.... Tough call... start conservative..... good luck!

I feel your pain! I'm anything but "in the business" but a company called Griots Garage sells (I believe) the same compound (with the cerium oxide) for $15, and the ideal rayon pad.... everything you need. As for the water problem, excuse me for thinking out of the box, but one doesn't have an assistant, you could keep a mouth full of water and get 4-5 squirts. My windshield is horribly streaked by my wipers.... I think I'll try that more economical route.
@detailit3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Cerium oxide and pad are quite pricey. I'm going to have to try my rotary and this stuff when it cools off.. crazy how much effort and product that takes🤯 take care

What is a rayon pad?
@detailit3 жыл бұрын
It's a different material specifically for glass.. thanks for watching👍
@ETPAK3 жыл бұрын
Good try, but many videos here dont tell that Ceriun Oxide with rayon pad works very well when it is wet all the time. When I remove scratches from glass, I use 5 inch pad, and non stop fine mist spray of water. Need polisher too. Start 1000rpm and then increase it to 3000rpm. Dont overheat the glass. try to keep it under 120 degree. Some deep scratches i sand them with 400 sand paper then 1000 and final 1500. Then I use cerium oxide. It is very messy work but results are great if used with non stop fine mist of water spray . "WATER spray non stop". DA dont work. Need polisher. Polishing glass is not an easy task. Need a lots of patience and hard work. GOOD LUCK.
