Thank you Gabriel for a film that captured the atmosphere at Glastonbury’s Beltane Celebration. How did you manage to walk up the hill backwards? You must be very fit! Catching the sun in the middle of the top of the Maypole was very well done!

Diana Thank you so much. Your comment made my day. Thank you for appreciating that I have now pretty much walked backwards all the way up the high street and beyond at least 3 times in the last week and yes it plays havoc with you calf muscles the next day. And thank you very very much for noticing the sun in the maypole shot. There literally was one spot that the shot worked and if you never more than an inch in any direction the sun moves. And with the crowds moving around taking it in turns to be in the very spot I needed it took ages to get.

Sure, it's no doubt a fun day out but every element of it is a fraud. Maypoles, The Green Man, May Garlands, Jack-in-the Green, Morris dancing - it's all pagan and about fertility rites, innit. Perhaps Disney should sponsor the event.
