TV footage of Glasto from C4 before the BBC got hold of it. Footage and interviews include The Levellers, The Pretenders, the brilliant L7, St. Etienne, Beastie Boys, Margi Clarke, John Peel, Johnnie Walker, Boo Radleys, Keith Allen, Rage Against The Machine a bit at the end and of course Mark and Lard and Katie Puckrik. I've kept the adverts in also as cannot be bothered to edit. A bit grainy but not bad footage. Enjoy!

Love the Saint Etienne interview with Katie Puckrik - a golden Glastonbury moment ad Sarah Cracknell is just gorgeous.

Thank you for posting this! Here's a story you might enjoy as this was my first Glastonbury. Left London on Friday evening in a car with 1 mate, 2 girl mates, no tent or tickets and no real plan. It was hammering down with rain and the BBC were warning people not to travel - my flatmates thought it was hilarious. As we got within about 10 miles the rain eased and it turned out that the really heavy rain had missed Glasto. (My fave bit of this video is at 1:27:35 because that's exactly what we saw in the sky as we approached the site - the sun breaking through the clouds!) We drove past the site entrances and stopped at a pub to make a plan. As we sat down at an outside table I noticed a crusty wearing a plastic wristband (something I hadn't seen before). I innocently asked him what it was. "I've been working at Glasto, helping set up," he boasted. "The real Glastonbury has already happened - when you lot come down on the weekend we go home." Spotting an opportunity I said "Oh cool, can I have that wristband then?" He couldn't really refuse me but he hesitated so I sweetened the deal with a tenner and he snapped it off. I asked him who he'd been working for and he gave me the name and the entrance to use. After a few more beers it was dark so we left to try our luck. At the entrance a guy stopped us and asked if we had tickets. "It's ok I answered," flashing the wristband (ends tucked under my watch strap), "We're production team - working for Michael..." but couldn't remember the surname. The guy said "Michael Harrison?" and I just said "Yeah" and he nodded and directed us to park near a small gate opening in the outer fence. Result! Just 2 mins later I, showed the wristband and walked in - but immediately wondered how could I get my friends in. I stood nearby and watched as some people left through the gate. One of them didn't have a wristband so the security guy handed a small square of paper cut from of a magazine - he'd clearly improvised this solution. I walked away out of sight for 5 mins, returned with my wristband in my pocket and the guy gave me a piece of paper. Once out I gave it to one of the girls and gave the wristband to my mate. We were all going to get in! But I had one more deal to do; whilst waiting for my mate to return with the wristband a pickup truck arrived with 2 guys on the back. The driver stopped, opened the tail gate and shouted "if we catch you trying to jump the wall again, we'll call the police - now get lost." They jumped down and the driver went off in search of more gate jumpers. I saw my chance to do a 'good' deed and recover my expenses and approached the two guys. My proposal was met with a big smile and they even insisted on buying us drinks. As we walked to the nearest bar, I looked up and noticed the sky was almost completely clear of clouds. Blue skies and sunshine followed - good job as we had no camping gear whatsoever. What's your Glasto story? :)

I remember as a 14 year old trying to stay up late to see this. No curfews or anything, I just fell asleep as it was broadcast so late. Unfortunately drifted off before the start of the highlights with the TV on but woke up at around 1:07:21 as you see here. It was immense. My life changed!

Envy you man! In the history of it I feel this was one of the best in terms of line up and before it got too big. Probably because this was the first year it was on telly.

@@tyronerodgers and yet back then the BBC didn't want to touch it - hence it was C4 and MTV who showed it. Even some of the acts didn't want their sets recorded - notice how much Peter Gabriel stuff there is from Sunday.

1994 Glastonbury defy one year that I wish could have gone but I older sister Sarah went with her mates and thanks to weak sauce fence they got in for free. She gave me the idea of sending the living room with my tent and taking the tv and video record hostage for the whole weekend so mum and dad had to watch Glastonbury all the time . They re a bit cheesed off at first but by the end weekend they had told me about their first time at Glastonbury in 1971 and they only paid pound for ticket
