The clips are great mate, I would definitely recommend if you’re in a tight space or if you haven’t got mortar stands!

One of my relations had a brick company in Yorkshire making old bricks and pan tiles, he had a book, can’t remember what book called now. Company was called York handmade brick company I think. They had barges that sailed all down the Ouse and I think there was another place in hull that made them. But yeah 100% canals mate, horses would be shafted🤣

I use the board clamps all the time as most of the scaffolding on our extensions is narrow in places. Dead easy to make, there’s always broken scaffold clips kicking about. I make the board slot about 8” wide and they are solid as a rock.

Yes definitely good on narrow scaffolds

Did the brick and trowel companies go out of business in the sixties due to the concrete tower blocks becoming fashionable. They were pre cast and bolted together so no trowels needed. It's just a thought. The canals were used to transport anything heavy, so those bricks possible would have come by barge. Not sure about now but pottery was still being transported by canal in the nineties. Being fragile, water is the best way to move pottery. Good idea for the chop saw, all I would say is don't leave it tied up too long or it will weaken the spring and then may not close properly when you need it to.

Interesting about the 60s maybe, i dont know why we dont use canals more for non perishable goods.Yes i only put the cables on when needed then cut them of👍

I wonder was it the introduction of marshalltown trowels that sounded the death knell for all the English trowel makers .rollins tools have being distributing marshalltown trowels for 102 years in the uk and Ireland.

@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 that’s what I thought mid 60s early 70s . I sent an email to Marshalltown a while back and a Rollins tools man replied. (My inquiry was passed on to them ) he Said Rollins tools ( who are in business since 1866) have been distributing marshalltown trowels in the uk and Ireland for 102 years . Must have had a slow start.

Here in the States Marshalltown trowels were at one time came in a poor second place. Rose was the trowel of choice. In the 80's Marshalltown upped their game and came out with not just a higher quality trowel than before but the "soft handle" with the "bumper" on it for about $25-$30 American. The Rose trowels about the same price for the one's with the wooden handle, they also made them with a hard plastic handle, red and orange colored, then there was the leather handle and that was like $45. I've used the Marshalltown for close to 40 years now and I find the 11 1/2 inch #33 the trowel for me. Now $40 or better.
@bricklayersworldwithandy62779 ай бұрын
@@saber5585 Most use Marshaltown in the UK but Rose are also popular but we only seem to get the low lift Rose over here, old vintage British trowels made from Sheffield steel also have a following.
