Presumably the original plan before Cory’s passing was for them to carry on the New Directions under Finn, and he played such a big role in all five of their characters’ development, it would’ve been just as much a tribute as it being sung by the seniors. Season 4 & 5 had so many new interesting characters but the writing and the plot were terrible. Some plotlines were ooc or just go no where. Just thinking about it makes me so sad :( At least there were amazing performances like these to salvage it

I watched season 4 with an open mind and ended up liking the newbies but some people were not so open minded and just wanted to see the same old characters. Though S4 had some not so memorable storylines, it did have a few that could’ve carried into season 5. Instead, the writing in season 5 was all over the place and I think the writers were just trying to cater to what they thought the fans wanted to see. Aside from The Quarterback, S5 is just a mess and even more forgettable than S4 imo.

Some people don't share that sentiment though :( Ngl, it's been a while since I last watched glee and I've forgotten nearly everything that happened after ss3, because most of them were forgettable. I remember the Marley/Jake/Ryder love triangle that ended with Jake/Marley (until he cheated on her in ss5); the Unique catfish Ryder (I hate this one with a passion) and how Kitty was a fucking bully to Marley. Oh, and everyone being mad at Marley for passing out. Huh, now that I wrote this out, it seemed like I only remember all the moments I hate XD

@@julezzz_08 I agree with you. Season 4 could’ve been so much better and it bothers me so much! I didn’t like how they would jump back and forth from Lima to New York literally every episode. So much would be crammed into each episode that you’d either forget certain storylines or like you said, not be interested at all. I always felt like it would’ve worked better if they had alternated between Lima and NY each episode instead, with mixing storylines every now and then. Meaning one episode Lima storyline only, the next NYC only, next episode Lima, and so on. That way it would’ve been easier for us, the viewers, to get comfortable with the new characters as well as adjust to the old characters and there current situations. That probably also would’ve helped season 5 not suck since it picks up where season 4 left off. Well, 5 tries to pick up where 4 left off as we already established, it did a terrible job.
