Not really. Supergirl only started filming around Glee series finale shooting (that's why aside from Cory due to him being dead; Melissa is the only Glee regular to not return for the series finale last song/scene). Fox tried to make a compromise with CBS to let Melissa film at least for one day on the Glee finale; but Supergirl was filming it's Pilot episode so they couldn't spare their main actress. The S4 newbies were written off after 5x13 (All of them minus Melissa returned for at least 1 appearance on S6). There was no plans of doing Supergirl at that time and other 19 Glee episodes (the final 7 of S5 and the first 12 of S6) were filmed before Supergirl's Pilot even started filming. Aside from the series finale they could have tried to have Melissa back in any of these other 19 episodes. It's Glee's own criative choices to have Marley (and the other newbies) go away here not Melissa's (and the other newbies actors). Melissa and the other 4 newbies even continued being credited for the rest of S5 as series regulars; so they were still binded legally by contract to appear on the other 7 S5 episode if the writters ever wanted them in it. As far as S6 goes they could have tried having Melissa back anytime before instead of only the final scene. Not saying this would happen but MAYBE if they tried to bring Melissa back early instead of only the final song/scene. Maybe CBS would be more understading enough to let Melissa go film the scene. She would be saying goodbye to Glee at the same time as she would be saying hello to Supergirl. But on CBS eyes Melissa was basically done with Glee for over a year already since they never showed intentions to bring her back sooner so they prioritized their Pilot shooting.
