To be fair, Rachel had literally been working toward this since she was a child. She *always* had direction and a goal she was striving for. Whereas, Santana spent a lot of time floating around, not really working toward anything. It took her a long time to figure out what she wanted to do and longer to pursue it. Which is why she wasn’t getting all the same opportunities. It wasn’t a lack of talent or drive. Santana just hadn’t honed her craft enough or paid all her dues yet. With time and consistency, it would have happened for her too.

I like most of their songs together, I think their voices complement one another in a beautiful way. But, for me, it was a pain to see what Santana did to Rachel: she never wanted those things for herself but then, she saw Rachel getting the opportunities and had a jealousy crisis. It almost ruined the season for me, but the songs saved it in the end.
