Emily Ringwood Chris has a wonderful countertenor voice. Its clarity is shown in full here. Both do justice to the song, but I think it comes down to personal preference, as it did in the scene. I suspect that there are dozens of good soprano to every countertenor. And, sadly, there are far more opportunities for them outside the world of opera.

Kurt is better by FAR, with Rachel it feels like she’s acting, however with Kurt you actually feel the emotion. Rachel may be a technically stronger singer but I feel nothing listening to her, and especially in musical theatre that’s more important imo

Hmm, the song is most traditionally sung by baritone or tenor and they frequently use the head tone for a softer tone. I know I do, when I sing it. I didn’t like Lea’s powerful ending, but I’d rather it be more a quiet prayer. Just an opinion.

I think his voice is amazing but the show barely ever gave him songs that fit his voice like this one, being alive, roses turn etc did, and instead they ALWAYS made him sing in his falsetto which never sounded great(defying gravity I am looking at you)

Oh Lord, his fake falsetto voice get on my nerves... His winning this challenge was totally made up by the writers to prove some lame point, if it was about technicality would've been impossible that a majority of good listeners would choose him over her, his falsetto voice never changes along the song it just get higher on some parts there's no developments while she have full control of everything, reaches higher notes and have a strongest and pleasent voice.
