Can .... Can someone please explain to Rachel how Broadway works? It would be physically impossible for one person to do every show. In fact having a friend you love be your understudy would actually be the best because you have someone you know I'm rehearsals with you.

Okay, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that Santana clearly didn’t want to do it, but only did it because she was jealous of the accomplishments that Rachel was getting even though she earned and worked the hardest for it. And Santana doing this without letting Rachel even know and trying to prove her wrong even though she’s not even wrong in this point, that’s not a friend and I wouldn’t want someone like that being my understudy, regardless of how talented they are.

I feel like Rachel and Santana were both in the wrong here. Santana seemed to have audition for the understudy just to spite Rachel while Rachel overreacted and was being petty. But you can also see that Santana was hurt by what Rachel said and Rachel felt betrayed by both her best friends (I don't think they betrayed her tho. Kurt was trying to help them resolve their argument and personally I believe deep deep down Santana wanted to bond with Rachel). I love them both but this argument could have been avoided😔

Idk. I disagree. I don't think Santana was auditioning to be spiteful at all, iirc. Because if you rewatch her audition, you can see how genuinely excited she is. I think it was Rachel's attitude that brought on the spite. But, that's just my opinion.

Nah Santana has a method to her madness. She knew that Rachel would try to sabotage her(and after sunshine I CANNOT blame her) and Rachel’s reaction absolutely proved it. She was intimidated by Santana’s talent and couldn’t stand the idea of Santana being good enough to be the understudy.

0:26 the fact that Rachel thinks this is the real definition of an understudy shows that she doesn’t deserve to perform on Broadway. The purpose of an understudy is so that incase the lead gets sick/injured etc (or any other reason why they can’t perform - like RACHEL’S TV SHOW AUDITION), the show can still go on anyways bc the understudy is prepared & rehearsed everything too. It’s a shame that the writers let Rachel get away with everything despite being a narcissistic brat.

It’s not a matter of her auditioning and receiving the part. It all comes down to Rachel can’t stand it when she sees someone have the same potential as her and they receive the same attention. No matter what, Rachel will step on anyone’s toes to ensure she has all the spotlight. Instead of being happy and supportive, she fights and throws tantrums. In Lima, it was easy because no one was brave enough to humble her and put her in her place when it was needed. But going to New York, it wasn’t always the case because no one was going to give her the time of the day to pity and spoil her.

I really hated this. Also she looked so hurt here,not just Rachel. And even tho Santana was mean at first,she did a lot for Rachel,she put Rachel's picture in her locker,she took her to the hospital,she kept finding out what Brody really was so Rachel couldn't get more hurt,she told Finn about it and finally made Rachel realize the truth. And most important. She got her a job as a waitress. SHE was the one that got Rachel out of bed when she was starting to give up her opening night. What did Rachel do for Santana? Nothing.
