This scene makes me happy because Schuester finally callled Rachel out for having a terrible attitude and being a selfish little spotlight hog. The only problem is that this was the first and last time he would do so. Also this is a prime example of how Will was whatever the writers needed him to be depending on the episode's plot. Sure u could say that about all the characters, but in his case it's the worst. For example, this episode demanded that he be someone who values letting his students shine equally.

He can be a good coach although he wasn't good with VA because he should have suspended Clint instead of kicking him off the team over the team picking on Sheldon Beiste. And I feel Sue thought she knew what Will would do, but he disappointed me by kicking Clint off the team instead of suspending. This would be effective because the booster club for VA doesn't have authority to get Clint out of suspension as they would need to know why he got suspended.

In the season 5 episode 'Bash', when Rachel was trying to justify her quitting NYADA on the grounds that it's 'holding me back', all I could think of was this scene. It's the same through most of the show, if someone doesn't tell her what she wants to her, she sulks, she throws a tantrum, she walks out, she causes a scene and thinks that she's being either a diva or 'an adult' when she's actually being a spoiled brat

Sarah Younan Yeah, because she gives up on her commitments because something bigger came along. She didn't even wait for a year on Broadway before she moved onto a TV show, thinking that it's automatically be a success. It wasn't and then she was left with no degree, next to no Broadway history, except with the rep as someone who breaks contract. She left NYADA because they didn't tell her what she wanted to hear, she wasn't doing the work, she didn't follow the assessment criteria, she was in no position to ask for special treatment, especially after Madame Tibedeux had been very generous to her.

Basically she thinks she's more talented than the rest of the Glee club because she was overshadowed with praise, thanks to her dads, and Mr. Schuester. Her dads made her competitive, while Mr. Schuester gave her almost every solo when everyone else wanted one. In fact, when someone sings a lot better and is also just as talented, Rachel is just blinded by jealousy, so she turns on "attitude mode" or even worse, "sabotage mode." Rachel's not a bad person, though, because she does have some heartfelt moments, but she's just spoiled and does not know how to take no for an answer.

The plan going into Sectionals in S1 was for Artie to sing Proud Mary, Mercedes to sing And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going, and Finn & Quinn to sing Don't Stop Believin'. Other songs suggested by Will himself was True Colors by Tina & Hair/Crazy In Love by Artie & Mercedes. He also planned for Artie to sing lead on Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat. And for Tina to sing lead on Tonight from West Side Story. Then at Regionals in S1, Don't Stop Believin' was turned into a group number. While at Sectionals solos were given instead to Santana (Valerie) and Quinn & Sam (I've Had The Time Of My Life). By this point, Rachel has literally only had one lead given to her by Will (Faithfully). She competed with Kurt on Defying Gravity and had to go behind Will's back to do Push It (and was immediately punished/spited for it despite everyone else being involved, too.) Which why Rachel & Kurt had to compete for Defying Gravity but Artie & Tina & Mercedes were given their proposed leads without competing for it is kind of a weird question. People overlook these songs because they DIDN'T happen, but the truth is, had Sue not sold the set list for Sectionals, Rachel would have been singing background to Artie, Mercedes & Quinn & Finn back in Season 1. She DOES perform DROMP at Sectionals, but that's not given to her by anyone. It's sung in a state of emergency after Mercedes's confidence is shot by the girl's school stealing her solo. And it's worth mentioning, Rachel's go to is actually to encourage Mercedes to sing a different song. But MERCEDES is the one that tells Rachel to sing instead. And I think people overlook that fact. (Also, Rachel is the only one who believes Santana when she gets wrongfully accused of selling out the set list.)

Sectionals in season two and three WHERE AMAZING! And the thing those two have in common is that Rachel wasn’t the star and we got to hear everyone perform. Quinn and sams chemistry and talent was amazing. Valerie is like everyone’s favourite sectional performs. Mike and Brittany dancing gave me lifeeee. Season 3 sectional, we got to hear SO MANY voices. The thing that frustrates me about Rachel is that she was so painfully unaware. I would even go as far as to call her selfish, because no matter how driven and hardworking she may seem the way she hogged the spotlight left a complete disregard for the other glee members. Even if all those tantrums she threw over solos were to help her in her future career, she did wrong by everyone else and they all just ended up as background characters.

Yeah 👍🏻 It's a lot of fun when people tell you how talented you are, but when you enjoy sharing the spotlight with others and you're more kinder than self-absorbed, I guess that's when you get more friends, and it's such a good feeling. I remember the times I was told how much of a beautiful singing voice I have, even though I didn't really think of myself as a great singer (sometimes I still don't), and when I was cast to play 5 ensemble roles in "The Little Mermaid," I really enjoyed sharing the spotlight with my castmates / friends. Maybe I might never get a lead role because I'm always an ensemble role, but I'm hoping and working to become a Broadway performer, an author, a scriptwriter, and a lyricist too. I'm just happy I'm not like Rachel Berry because at least I don't often beg for solos, and I absolutely love seeing my theatre kid friends shine, and I try to accept rejection too. But sometimes I always find it very hard to accept rejection, but I learned that it makes me realize that I can do better and I'll be tougher in a good way. (Unlike Rachel, who always acts like a spoiled brat whenever she faces rejection, because she tries to excuse herself by saying someone is jealous of her successful talents)

i like rachel only because she changed so much from the first few seasons to the later seasons. but i will forever despise season 1 and 2 rachel, not because of her bratty and entitled attitude towards solos but in general. remember when kurt decided to switch to dalton bc he was being THREATENED and felt UNSAFE at school and everyone else was trying to comfort him for him but the first thing rachel said was “sO DOES THAT MEAN YOURE GOING AGAINST US AT SECTIONALS?” yes she changed a lot throughout the show but in the first few seasons she was extremely entitled and worried about herself more than others even in situations that weren’t about her, which is why i admire how much she changed to not only strive and work hard for her own goals but also give back to others in the future seasons. but no doubt this was one of the most satisfying moments in the entire series

After this we get Valerie by Santana, I've Had The Time Of My Life by Sam & Quinn, Welcome Christmas by Artie, Rachel & Mercedes, We Need A Little Christmas by Mercedes, Kurt & Tina, then finally we get SING by Rachel & Finn before going into Original Song for Regionals? Which Rachel is the one to even SUGGEST original songs. (Also all signs point to Loser Like Me originally being proposed as a group number, but Ryan had to force them to perform original songs because the cast actually didn't want to so I think that's why Lea performs Loser Like Me even though it's clearly based around other people's experiences. Kevin McHale has said he recorded the entire song. Naya & Heather sing with Lea on Glee Live! and Mark/Chord/Harry were originally supposed to be singing backing vocals for Cory.) Like that's literally the canon progression of officially sanctioned songs that New Directions performs?

I feel like the glee club was meant to allow anyone to join like no matter how you look or what . Like it was a place where you could fit in but as time passed everyone become selfish and just wanted to be cool so when new people joined they judged and never accepted them

They should have been given a harsh STERN lecture after sectionals, they were fighting over the dumbest things and acting like kids, they were in high school and needed to grow up and be respectful to not only each other but everyone else and also ask how they would feel if they were in someone else's shoes Also Rachel should have been punched in the face and harshly scolded for acting like a spoiled diva and told to give everyone else a shot once in a while

Actually Shue was a lousy teacher here. If he had control over his club this would have never happened. The day before he allowed Santana once again to insult and humiliate other team members now he lashes out at Rachel totally ignoring what she was really upset about. What people always seem to forget is when Rachel has demanded a solo she never got it. Oh and Rachel only did that twice. Mr Shue as a seasoned teacher should have known better to berate her in front of the others especially after the ordeal he allowed to happen in his class the day before.

Will is a hypocrite. He preaches on the talent in the club but never utilizes it except when it’s convenient. I.e when Mercedes, Santana and Brittany cut the talent almost to half and he gave Tina more at Sectionals S3.
