In this clip, Yung Gleesh discussed his start in music beginning with joining a go-go band at 15. He said he gave up football after joining the band and detailed how he started smoking weed around the same time. As for rap influences, Yung Gleesh pointed out Boosie and Gucci Mane as two figures that pushed him to step into the booth. He also pointed out certain groups like Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs, and collectives such as Dipset as influences as well.
Yung Gleesh also said he wasn't a huge fan of rap growing up because he couldn't reconcile the antics rappers pulled with the real-life experiences he witnessed growing up in D.C. Rappers like 50 Cent didn't appeal to Yung Gleesh and even artists today like 6ix9ine turn him off. He says rappers like that will eventually have to stand on what they've said and done.
