We were driving thru a small town in Arkansas a few days ago and there was a sign that said "Delight Arkansas, Home of Glen Campbell". Remembering that he was buried there we found our way to his gravesite at his family cemetery. When you walk up to his grave there is a motion sensor that activates a speaker on a big tree that plays this exact version of this song. It is a beautiful experience. I recommend anybody in the area to go by and visit.

My mother was from Scotland. She used to.tell stories of her dad who never missed a day of work and would go out drinking after work on Friday nights and Come home to their apt in the bronx) drunk and serenade the neighbors in the middle of the night with his bagpipes. Not sure if he could play well sober. Lol. But Glen could play music by ear and sing well. I admit I have never seen anyone play and sing the same song at same time. Impressive. But that was Glen. And his music beginnings was as a sessions man in recording g studio. Check out utube on it.

What an amazingly graceful man he was. To be that talented, and yet unassuming and modest, that's a very rare combination. And, as a bagpipe player myself, I can tell you that's no easy thing he's doing up there and he pulls it off beautifully. Kind of got in my soul kitchen as "Amazing Grace" was the first tune I learned to play on the pipes.... oh, so many years ago...

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, who called me here below, Will be forever mine. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.
