I’m 57 years old. Several months ago I discovered Toad The Wet Sprocket while going down a music “rabbit hole”. I recognized one of their old hits. THAT VOICE❤️‼️. I began listening to their music. Later I saw an old video of them performing live and I instantly “stopped in my tracks” when I saw this quirky adorable young man belt out that voice! Recently, I found solo Glen Phillips. He still sounds amazing! His songs are incredible. Truly a gifted artist and a beautiful soul. So grateful I found him❤️🎼

Glen is an amazing singer and storyteller. I have never had an album affect me so deeply as "Swallowed By The New". I cried the first time I heard "Grief and Praise". Go is another one that hits me right in the heart. Knowing what this album is about and witnessing the stages of grief that Glen experienced is just heartbreaking, yet is proof that we can survive and come out of hardships with a renewed spirit. Thank you, Glen, for putting into words what so many of us have felt.

This track is full of the most profound honesty. In every other instance, light is used to draw people in as with the proverbial 'beacon of hope'. A lighthouse, however, shines its light to push those souls away who would otherwise be drawn in and, in doing so, saves all those who see its clear warning. This is how an honest person might feel after leaving a loving relationship. The tendency might be to get back into another relationship in order to ease the pain but often, what we actually need is time by ourselves in order to heal and become emotionally healthy to ourselves and others.
