Pukekura park is one of the greatest public gardens in the world. Stunning. New Plymouth is my home town and I miss it sooo much. I'm living in the uk so it's lovely to see this. Thank you.

It’s a shame that we never got the chance to see a shower in the park while staying! I’d say it has an awesome atmosphere!

This is where I was born and where I still live! One of the islands is called Seal Island. Paritutu Rock is the core of Mount Taranaki. If you were to go further up the hill at the stage area of Brooklands Park, which is attached to Pukekura Park, there is a small zoo and an old cottage you can tour through and a Chinese style garden. The black sands are called Iron sands and yes, in summer, it gets super hot! You either wear footwear, place towels down and inch along or you run as fast as you can.

It was just a little cold from the family’s kids we were staying with 😅 and when my nose is stuffed it’s super difficult to understand what I’m talking about usually😂😂 you got to check it out it’s our favourite garden so far in NZ!

It’s kinda interesting the black sand on west coast and white sand on east coast of NZ. Similar to Hawaii except there as I understand it white sand is North and black on the south but not altogether sure about that because never been to Hawaii. Spent some years in New Plymouth. The park the mountain it has it all. That mountain is spectacular. 12:35 12:35

you missed the cricket field at the park , they filmed scenes from the Samarai movie there , most of the samarai movie with Tom Cruise was filmed in New Plymouth , as you can see mount Taranaki looks like Mt Fuji

If you guys come back up to Coromandel area check out the walk in the Karangahake Gorge. It's got some cool old mine tunnels and a 1km long old train tunnel. Takes no more than 2 hours. Then head back to Waihi Beach, specifically to Cave Bay in Bowentown if you didn't already go. Just note you can only go to Cave Bay in low tide. Our family had a bach there my grandad built (Uncle lives there now) so I spent so many summers over there. Also at low tide you can walk across Shelly bay as many islands pop up above the water (though I haven't done this in many years so don't know how much now due to rising sea levels). Just make sure to have those sea shoes as there are a lot of small crabs and your toes will get nipped lol.Water only gets about waist deep.

Next time you see black sand, take a magnet with you and run it through the dry black sand. Put what you pick up on some paper and put the magnet under the paper

If you walked up the hill where the stadium is in Pukekura park, it would have taken you to the zoo. Pukekura park is best when the festival of lights is on.
