I originally got into Kurzweil with a K2600R. I sold it and bought a Pc3x. I'll never give up the Pc3x. It's upgraded with a Kore64 expansion and has a Fatar88 keybed. I also use it with Komplete 13 Ultimate in the studio. The combo does everything and more than I'll ever need. Ever.

Some people says the K2600 sounds a bit fuller due to older convertor. And i seem to prefer that sound too but the PK3 has more sounds, a bit modernised, more fx, mordernized architecture. Do you think the PC3 is a better choice ? Thx (I like old school sound with character)

These sounds are awesome! Which sound sets did you get? I have a PC3x and I've been wanting to infuse some new sounds into it. This is one of the best demos I've heard. Can you point me in the right direction?

Note= many sounds you hear are PC3 'K' sounds which load user samples - so wont fully load on a PC3 or Pc3Le. I also played a handful of sounds from www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PC3KLibrary .

you have to tweak them to make them sounds exactly....conversion is not precise most of the time.

3rd party sound patches always make a keyboard sound better than it actually is. It's not fair for the potential buyer, playing it safe like this..

What an odd comment. Factory presets are an inspiration for your creations at best, a waste of time at worst. I for one appreciate if somebody shows the potential of a synth. In this case I'm already quite aware of it, because I own a PC3K for >10 years now and the factory presets, while not bad, have huge gaps in the styles they cover, so custom patches, third-party or your own are essential.

The PC3K can sound great, and it can also very easily sound like crap. It's sound is basically LoFi sampling workstation-like synthesis at a HiFi resolution, something I personally don't have a problem with. Retro digital brought to modern spec. Generally sounds good across the entire frequency range, has a top notch interface and display (very good set of keys too), and it's palate is very versatile.

LemonSlice except the display is so outdated already. It needs a touch screen like Korg Kronos. Plus a vocoder too. Peace out! I'm currently deciding on what to get. This or the Korg Kronos 2 88 keys or the Kurzweil PC3K8. Especially for 80's hits! What puts me off Kurzweil is it doesn't have that orchestral hit sound used in Winter Game's. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace out!

Armz73 Kurzweil has sampling and the channel Mega Preset has a sound bank for sale which has a ton of Orchestral hits, including that Orch Hit from the Fairlight.

I bought the PC3K6.....hated the sound as compared to my K2500...the sound is so...."thin" and "lifeless" compared to my old K series. The K series just seemed to have so much more power and less harshness as compared to the PC3K series....so I sold it and kept my K2500. Disappointed in Kurzweil to say the least.

Lmao, I have both the K2500 and the PC3K8, absolutely love them both, but I don't know what you were hearing, the sounds on my PC3K8 destroy most of the sounds on my K2500 easily...

k2000/2500 sound more analoguish true....but pc3 sounds big and powerful, factory presets are crap they must be re programmed most of time, however k2000 character is inside pc3k without any doubt.

There's always at least one guy for these keyboards/synths made after 2000 saying modern synths sound "thin", "lifeless", "plasticky" while the old synths were "fat", "phat", "full-sounding" et al. What does that shit even mean? It's just more "new stuff bad, old stuff good!" psychological worship stuff all the poseurs do to sound like they're authorities on the matter. Everyone knows it's how you mix sounds to get them to sound good no matter what era they came from and every audio veteran has their own combination of effects and mixing that gives them their sound, so this idea that Kurzweil dropped the ball with their stuff after K2500 is just nonsense.

@@MeteoXavierI think the older patches were EQd differently, to give them a more organic sound which was distinct to Kurzweil. I remember trying one around 2000, and was struck by how woody and dark the piano was.

The PC3 K6/61key keys are typical 'organ' light weighted. The 76 key is semi weighted and the 88 key version is fully weighted. This K6 is good reaction for pads, strings, leads / fast moving light stuff. But for piano situations, it is nicer to have weighted keys. This keybed is very responsive/sensitive but also a bit springy - which may be good depending on your style needs.

The main thing is that you won't use 80% of the sounds in the video in real working situations. Everyone appreciates the great quality of the basic sounds, no one cares about bells and whistles...Unless you are a recent Yamaha PSR user...
