Great review. I have yet to open my bottle purchased in 2020 and bottled June 15 2020. Given that the distillery was closed for several years, made the bottle's youngest whisky a 25YO! I should have bought a few backup bottles then as the following year they sold off older vintage bottles with 27+ years age to get to a Parliament of 21YO. Those bottles went for 2-3X the Parliament pricing. Also, prices have risen since 2020 when I paid under CA$ 290! Again many thanks for a well described review.

Thanks! You're right about the older whisky in these 21 years. Since the distillery did not reopen until 2002, the whisky in my bottle likely predated the closure in 1996 (meaning it was probably 25 years as well)...

Why didnt they sell as older whisky if that the case?
@inuitplus8 ай бұрын
@@andrewlordon8734 again as indicated above, they did sell as older bottling at higher prices in 2021 onwards. For at least the Parliament 21YO issued in 2020 the youngest was 25YO juice. They had not reached the 21YO material in 2020. In short they would have not been able to sell a Parliament 21YO without using the minimum 25YO whisky.

I, too, have a bottle with the same date and have not opened it. I kick myself all the time for not buying another bottle or two, but I remember how hard it was to justify one bottle. I paid $275 3 years ago, and last week, I saw this on the shelf at two different stores going for $500!

What's the most you could justify paying for this bottle? I've finally found them on the shelf again but the price is $500!

It’s a special whisky (at least it was when they were putting older than 21 year whisky into the vatting), but I’ve never seen it over $400, let alone $500. That’s too much in my opinion.

I got a couple 2022 bottling and I get a very interesting dusty library / old book smell and leather as if I’m sitting in a old office it’s incredible. It for sure opens up over time and is less sweet than the 18yo in my opinion. great video

Thanks! I believe the 2022 bottlings are supposed to be the last of the older-than-stated batches of the Parliament, so enjoy!

I just found a 2022 bottling for $219 in GA. So that makes it 27 year old?! It’s very tasty. Lots of oak on the finish. I’m tasting it next to the 15 now and both are very similar but this Parliament definitely has that old dusty, refined taste that the 15 doesn’t. I should probably go buy the other 2 bottles they had as well:)

My absolute favourite from the core range and possibly my favourite "affordable" old sherried whisky (bottled up until 2022). To be fair, that one from 2021 is most likely a 26 years old bottle, judging from the famous charts.

You're correct. They're pretty special. Cheers!

Picked up a bottle of this a couple years ago for at the time ~$260. I have an August 2021 bottling meaning it’s still got pre distillery closure whisky so 24-25 YO… for that price at the time, incredible stuff. Still got more than half the bottle left, being kinda careful with it

I have a bottle from 2020 but haven't opened it. I paid $275 for it in 2021. I could purchase a new bottle from 2023 for $500. No way it's worth it for that price, right?

I have bought a few of these in the past, have a 2018 closed and remember paying $170 Cad for it online in Alberta. Those days are long gone.

In Germany, you can get the Parliament at "just" 228€, which is a superb investment. Most retailers limit you at just one bottle per customer, but I consider that fair, given its popularity. As for other Sherry matured whiskies, I gotta give it to Glenfarclas 25, which is another old whisky with a superb price-to-performance ratio. From the affordable ones, it's tough to argue against the Bunnahabhain 12's value.

A lot of Glenfarclas love today. It's certainly going to give you more years for your $ (or Euro...). Cheers!
