Hi Jason! Hope you're having a great summer! Thanks for another informative video. Just picked up Dalwhinnie 15, Old Pulteney 12 and Caol Ila 12. Prices have gone up here in Central NJ....but these three should hold me for a few months.

Hi Jason, I really enjoy your reviews. Keep up the great work and content! I completely agree with your review on this product. I bought this bottle last year and was similarly disappointed with the 40% abv (for a 15 year scotch), lack of flavour profile with young and raw characteristics, and a limited profile on the nose. In a blind taste test I too would have guessed it to be a much younger and lower quality scotch.

Thanks for the validation! A buddy of mine had this a year ago and echoed what you had to say. Also because I dont take free bottles from the industry i can really say what I think. Thanks for chiming in as other viewers read these comments and like to know what others think.

Great review, Jason, thank you. I probably wouldn't have bought this anyway, but yeah after this, it gets rid of any maybes.

Your videos are pleasure to watch. Expert reviews with sense of homour which I like the most. Can you share your best budget blended whisky and single malt too? Thank you.

Hi Jason. Just found your Chanel as I received highland 18 as a gift and I have been saving it as the price has become insane. Your review of “glenfilthich 18” seems spot on. I am a fan of glenlivit 18 but when my local store was out of it I bought the glenfiddich and didn’t enjoy it. Looking for your top 5 around $100 in canada as I’m looking to expand my collection. I’m in ontario. Post soon please!

Hi! I just visited the LCBO website and had a look. You have so much to choose from, but among the big, well distributed brands around or under $100, I recommend: Highland Park 12 Cragganmore 12 Cragganmore Distiller's Edition Clynelish 14 Johnnie Walker Green Label (its a blend of single malts only, no grain whisky, often referred to as a pure malt - Can be really good!) For some Irish suggestions: Greenspot Redbreast Cheers! PS Check out the independent bottlers available at Vintages. Some really incredible whiskies available through them.

@@JasonDebly I’m a craft whiskey fan as well and I’ve taken to old fashions as my goto cocktail, so I’m starting to test bourbons. Bulleit is an easy GOTO but I’m looking to try some smaller batch offerings.

I used a gift card to buy the Glenfiddich 14, which I liked. Wonder if you've tried that. $80 Ontario.

Is that with a Caribbean cask finish? Think I had some and was pretty good for the price.
@secordman2 жыл бұрын
@@JasonDebly No that's one they had a lot of TV ads b4 Christmas overemphasizing the "bourbon barrels" trying to get the bourbon crowd. Tastes like (unpeated) scotch of course.

Jason, I agree with you that the addition of (E150 = Caramel) or other colorings has a huge impact on flavor. Producers can fool the masses thinking that most won't notice. I prefer less or no additives depending on price point. If im getting a likable dram at good value for money, I tend to be forgiving if there are additives. But once I am spending $200 + for a memorable occasion I become intolerant of the artificial stuff thrown in for batch-to-batch consistency. Just my opinion. Anyways great review as always. Please keep going !
@scottlalonde2878 Жыл бұрын
Hi Henry, could you please tell me how E150 affects flavor. Does it dull it or make it taste different, maybe? Thanks, Scott L.

Yeh very wordy but no description on the actual sensory impact

Gee Jason tell us what you really think! I agree; I don't like Glenfiddich in any format. Always seems to me to be more about marketing and the fancy triangle bottle than good quality. For that price there are much better for less money. Cheers.

Even the 18 year is kinda meh. I mean not bad but not great as an 18 should be. Good to hear from you!

So sad to hear that this has dropped in quality. It was always the sweet spot for Glenfiddich expressions.

Under $100 and pretty good: Aberlour 12, Kilkerran 12, Craigellachie 13, Glenallachie 12, Kilchoman Machir Bay, Ledaig 10, Arran 10

Sadly the Aberlour didn't impress me, I expected better.

Whoops inflation $85. The 15 Solera now $105.
@SaltyCuban2 жыл бұрын
I remember when a $90 plus 12 yr old was almost unheard of. Almost all 12s now have gone up @$20-50 on avg. in the last year and a half or so. The 15 solera was $60-70 in 2020 in Florida . Welcome to “The greatest economic recovery in the history of the US” as per the Whitehouse smh.

Try Clynelish 14 !
@JayantaKumarAikat2 жыл бұрын
Wow.....your gentle, modest self takes an acerbic tint. Your most pointed review to date, is my guess. The Solera system itself involves a ruse. It is the age of the youngest whisky that needs to be mentioned, as per SWA. Solera hints that there is much older whisky in the bottle. My thoughts are that young age whiskies and old age whiskies do not combine. So a twenty year old would be better by itself rather than have a lot of twelve year old mixed in it. But I also feel that some comparisons with Aberlour would express how not upto standards this whisky is. Do keep on with your reviews...'expressions'. As a viewer would like to look forward to age stated malts only.
@henryortizjr1533 Жыл бұрын
Excellent point ! I would prefer to have a 20 year expression without any blending of younger spirit nearly half the age. However, I do wonder if the Solera system is more favorable for other spirits like the Spanish Brandies for example.
