It comes across that way, but it all depends on how the sound man has set it up. if there's no mic pointed at the audience their reactions will seem quiet and subdued

i dont care how funny he is. any comedian with a Gallagher beard, gallagher hat and many other semblances like the lurking, creepy theatre eyes needs to grab the sledgeomatic and just start smashing watermelons. Quit pulling the Wool over my eyes. yuck yuck yuck. better yet Galifinakis can pretend hes Gallaghers brother who took over the show bringing the sledgehammer on tour in mexico in 90s.
