Nice video Glenn. I've use the mdf disk with carpet padding and had great success with it.

Great to hear you like it. The carpet padding will do the job. Interested how it holds up over time so I can give feedback to others.

What a useful video with great instruction and explanations. For years I have struggled with that warpage that makes the bowl rock and used thick carpet padding mounted on a large plywood disc to help minimize the rocking. Your method is a better way.

Thanks, Glenn. I studied with you last year at Marc Adams, and I use your techniques on every bowl I make. Your instruction technique is excellent. I hope you will video doing a final turning of one of these beautiful bowls. Cheers and I hope progress on the new school can begin again soon. Be safe.

Great video Glenn. I use a face plate centering tool/jig for attaching the plate to the bowl blank. The centering jig made by Gord Rock on KZbin works well. Makes centering the face plate a breeze. Stay healthy and safe.

If you have access to a 3d printer, you can print out this little gadget that screws right into a faceplate and allows you to align it with the center: www.thingiverse.com/thing:5030806

Hello Glenn, thanks for the interesting demonstration. Can I ask what the threaded attatchment you have on the tailstock centre is for? You've got another subscriber. Best regards.

it is a tenon sizer and available from our website www.glennlucas.com
@quetuani897024 күн бұрын
Hi, I see that the new tenon diameter is lower than the one used before. Having only one chuck, during the roughing phase I have to use the more open jaws (larger diameter)? So then I can still get it with the same chuck, right?
@GlennLucasWoodTurner24 күн бұрын
Correct but it just won’t be as secure with the open jaws as they tend to compress the wood.
@eriklarsen61314 жыл бұрын
I like your instructional videos, but I miss one thing. When you are coring those bowl blanks, what do you use to seal the wood so it don´t crack? Or is it not necessary?
@GlennLucasWoodTurner4 жыл бұрын
All that information is covered in our instructional dvd and downloads. KZbin just gives a flavour of what is on offer :) glennlucaswoodturning.com/product/mastering-woodturning-series-no-2-bowl-turning-techniques-dvd-or-download/

Enjoyed the instruction & your teaching style is easy to follow. Thank you! New subscriber. Curious why you use two separate raised panels with the corrugated rubber rather than a one complete circular piece for the corrugated rubber? Just conserving material?
@GlennLucasWoodTurner7 ай бұрын
The top of the bowl is not flat after drying so it would rock on a flat surface.
