This car (in stock form ONLY) will continue to gain value in spite of the opinions of certain people. The 3 S2000's we own are all driven regularly and bone stock. Surprisingly we have been offered sizable sums for each seeing they are all original and equipped with only OEM options (matching hardtops etc.) Learned from a fellow S2000 enthusiast that a rather reclusive gentleman in Nor Cal has a collection of 26 S2000's including a (Europe only) Ultimate Edition, none its said have over 400 miles? He seems to be adding low mileage ALL original stock examples as he finds them. Why ? I have no idea but, I guess he must know or thinks he knows something.

Wow 26 and all low mileage. Sounds like they are banking on some serious appreciation. If Honda never brings out a manual replacement he has a pretty safe bet. The bat buyer didn't make a single comment. The buyer could also be the collector you speak of.

Will it be an investment? Yes. Is that the right reason for buying a car like this? No. You could buy a low-mileage example from any year, and put 5000 miles per year on it - it would still appreciate almost as much as a car that hasn't been driven. This is a waste, these cars are too good not to be driven.

Valid point Peter. Our 01 NFR S2000 has 22,312 miles, our 05 GPW has 31,502 and our 08 Apex Blue CR has the lowest with 2,633 miles. We opted for matching body color hardtops on all 3 of them and will never sell them. Each has a signed radio door by Shigeru Uehara and all will be donated to the Honda museum in Torrance Ca. or the museum in Ohio one day.

Can't get enough of driving my AP1 and it shows (third owner with 147k on the clock). With that mileage I can rest easy knowing that it won't see any crazy value. Hopefully however, the collector interest will peak enough for some residual value to trickle down and we won't loose (as much) money enjoying our cars properly. Just a matter of time until we see that car at auction again, this time likely for $100k.

I don't think this particular car is a good investment when low milage crs are going for 60k. I think of this a some guy really wanting this car and the bring a trailer price bump
