We need to know if landout fields are within gliding range, and we need to change our plans if they’re not.

I like this format. Just a short snippet of the flight illustrating decision making during mountain flying (and why it's so much more complicated than the flat lands).

Decision making, following the glider pilot's considerations, staying relatively calm in a dire situation, subscribed

Outstanding example of spacial awareness, eyes both inside and outside the cockpit, shrewd decision making on the fly, i am impressed, having never flown aircraft without an engine, i admire your level headed piloting skills ! Subscribed to watch more of this......

Great video! I though highlighting the relevant gauges in the video was a nice touch. It helped make clear what information you were using to make decisions.

Exciting, imho! Thanks for the video. I watch Bruno Vassel's channel and he has landed in farm fields about 15 times, he said in a recent video. I assume he had worse than expected sink rate which led him to make such decisions. He flies in Utah and its exciting to watch well done videos.

Hello Christopher congrats for your videos and channel. Really nice format and useful info overall. Pleasant to follow along. I am a glider pilot from Alzate Brianza in italy and sometines in summer I come to the French alps for a week to fly from there: St. Crepin, Sisteron and Pui so far. Never been in Fayence except a decade ago for a beautiful passenger flight on a Nimbus 4DM... Would love to have a closer look at your flights from Fayence to study your routes up north, especially also the glide back home to Fayence... Where do you publish them? OLC, weglide, netcoupe? Thanks and great videos again! 👍

Nice video as always! Would the gras strip at lac de sainte croix have been a better outlanding option? instead of Puimoisson. Flew there this spring for the first time while doing the advanced gliding course. Was instructed by Roger Eyrier. Maybe u know him.

Thanks for your kind words! Puimoisson was my original outlanding choice as it was aligned with my task, and because it’s a better equipped airfield. Once I decided that continuing towards Puimoisson wasn’t safe, I changed my outlanding choice to Sainte-Croix. Sainte-Croix is a perfectly acceptable outlanding option, but it was 90° and 20km off my course line, and therefore not my first choice.

Non, le moteur est uniquement pour le lancement - il ne doit jamais être utilisé comme alternative à un bon pilotage. Trop de pilotes sont morts en comptant sur leur moteur pour éviter aller aux vaches.

Left the video after 3 minutes due to boring camera views. The nose of the glider covers about 40% of the image and if you film yourself in the cockpit say something, talk to the audience, otherwise why should we look at you? Hope to see more videos, I’m sure you can do it better.

@@FayenceSoaring Sure your videos are different than many others. But it's that I appreciate : differences. A good point on your side, the post production work. Subtitles, glider datas and gliding datas, and the way you insert them in your videos, music also , are on my taste. I don't research always speachfull comments from a glider pilot. You gave me some of the most important informations about mountain soaring, with your flight to the Cervin and back. I've maden the virtual same fligt in my simulator, and believe me, I've taken a very great pleasure to attempt to follow your track ! Go on Christopher, don't waste your time with so negative comments.

I absolutely love the quiet style of your vids! Instead of becoming a radio moderator parrot, you have focussed and relevant comments written.
