I’ve heard that a few other people had the same experience of dropping a bali on its screw, damaging its hardware. Apparently it’s isn’t exclusive to the Antarctic, because it happened with the mako, arctic, and now Antarctic I guess

I'm glad to see Glidr getting recognized more and more. I've always been into balisongs, but it wasn't until recently that I actually went to order one since Glidr's bali trainers are relatively cheap compared to other brands and still offer good aesthetics (imo), feel, and materials for their price range. Honestly I was skeptical at first because it seemed too good to be true I didn't think I'd be able to get a nice bali for just a little over $100. I have the Arctic right now I'm thinking of whether or not I should get the antarctic too.

The arctic definitely feels a bit heavier, but there isn't a huge difference in terms of balance, I like how much better the Antarctic does chokers, cant describe why it does though. I still flip both regularly, and my arctic is beat af while the Antarctic is still a 9-8.5/10 with the factory locktite still on it and no tap, minimal play.

Not only are the Antarctic's well tuned but I did a handle swap recently for a project I wanted to do and the tuning was still just as perfect. their machining process must be insane over there.

Same exact drop happened to me on my arctic. Rendered the thing useless. Glidr did not handle customer service quite as nicely as they did for Brandon. Their support basically told me to buzz off and fix it myself. No offer of replacement scales or bushings even if I paid. They didn’t even tell me to file it down, I had to figure that one out for myself after some thinking 😂. Thought I was all alone on this freak accident, but something tells me if it happened to me and Brandon then it’s much more common then glidr wants to admit.

Seems like an easy fix would be for them to use slightly smaller diameter washers so a ding on the end doesn't cause interference between the two

Beware, even though this balisong is VERY good, you do still need to be care full with it. I ordered a Antarctic, and when I received it, I dropped it. Now it's not bouncy and sounds bad on one handle. So be carefull.

I have bought an Antarctic two weeks ago. It is my first high-ish tier balisong and it really is incredible. Before I've gotten it (and before it even got announced by Glidr), I wanted to buy a a Squidtrainer, but a drop never occurred sadly (Lamnia). Both the Squidtrainer and the Antarctic cost about the same for me (about $215, import fees suck big time), would it make sense to get a Squidtrainer too, or save up for something like the Nautilus or even the Krake Raken since the Antarctic is that much better than the Squidtrainer?

Personally would save up for a krake raken or nautilus. Haven’t flipped a squidtrainer but can’t imagine it’s as good as the Antarctic because it doesn’t have bushings. Have both an Antarctic and a krake raken and I like the krake raken more but both are great

this is a great review. i have a glidr antarctic, and i agree with almost everything here. the one thing i dont fully agree with is the durability. i am not a very good flipper, and i drop it a lot, and though it still flips fine, it has a lot of cosmetic damage. i compared it to my rake raken, witch i have dropped a lot more, the kraken has less damage. also, i said this on a video on the other chanel, but there is a show i think you would really like called helluva boss. i cannot say for sure you would like it, because i don't know you in real life, but it seems like a show you would like.

From my knowledge, the Krake Raken having less damage is due to the higher quality of aluminum. The Krake Raken uses 7075 aluminum, whereas the Antarctic uses 6061. 7075 is around twice the durability of 6061. If you look at the durability scores on the BS score list, that's actually the main reason the Krake Raken had a 9/10 durability vs. the Antarctic 8/10. We were torn between giving the Antarctic a 7 or an 8 though, and ultimately chose an 8, because it is in fact very well built. But yes, the 6061 keeps it from being a 9 or 10

I got in on the first drop. I immediately dropped my knife and broke it the exact same way as Brandon. I wouldn't suggest this pos to anybody. They told me to fix it myself. Didn't offer to send any replacement parts. I would say not an uncommon problem.

I personally would get an Antarctic, but of course Squidtrainers are available once a week, whereas Antarctic's don't release very often. But the Antarctic is a significantly better value when looking at just the price over the Squidtrainer

I live in Europe so its very hard getting balis due to the shipping costs and thats why it wouldn’t make a huge difference in the price anyways. I think im gonna go with the antarctic just because it has bushings and the squidtrainer ring might be annoying.
