Ikd, Bracken v Blackwood is just as shallow in the books. Have yet to meet/read/hear someone actually cheering for the Brackens. One side: Is aligned to the Starks, has the "former greatness vibe" (dead weirwoord and all), is the (current) underdog and has deep lore (first men etc.). The other: Sided with Joffrey/Tywin/Cersei (absolute charmers), out of pure spite, lore as deep as any Riverlands house ("were kings sometime ages ago") and is unwilling to make any compromise. As grey as it gets probably with Bittersteel v Bloodraven, but even there Bittersteel is as close to the main villain of all things Blackfyre as it gets (Daemon and Bloodraven getting way more ambiguity).

About Seasmoke, I think it's entirely possible that an abandoned dragon could take a new rider. Just because the people in the series don't commonly present that as a possibility doesn't mean it isn't one. There's a difference between "This is what usually happens" and "this is a hard rule, enforced by magic" and I think a lot of people are just assuming the one-rider thing falls into the latter category when it could just as easily be the former.

Honestly, I imagine navigating from the sky isn't as easy as it seems and Rhaenyra was just flying around the middle of the continent until she eventually saw a huge lake and now she's just flying towards it, having overshot it on her search. I personally dont mind the marketing strategy of the binary choice trailers, its a bit of fun - and interacts with something that the fandoms do engage with sometimes. Whilst one could argue that it flattens the show's depth - I'd argue that its simply just the marketting, and I think they are going to subvert this concept HEAVY and throw it in all of our faces in the show itself. Up until the Dance, most of the kings of Westeros fought their own battles, as did their families. They were dragonriders.

@@JC-gn7lq I'm just saying because Rhaenyra famously sat out most of the war until after most of her family members died, meanwhile Aegon puts his nuts on the table immediately and gets burned.

Rhaenyra was recovering from childbirth and the deaths of her father, daughter, and son. They've changed it for the show, but in F&B, she was deeply depressed after Luke's death and had Corlys take over planning. They also had more dragons on their side, so it makes sense that they wouldn't want to put her at risk. Finally, she didn't want to attack KL or her half-sibs directly bc that would make her a kinslayer, and she cared about that until another son was murdered. Aegon didn't have all of those limitations, and they didn't have as many dragons (Vhagar is the MVP for the greens, no contest). He also didn't care about kinslaying and wanted to attack Dragonstone right after B&C. Besides, as you suggested, Aegon's battle effort ended horribly. He was out of commission for a year. In conclusion, poor Sunfyre didn't deserve his fate. It's going to be very difficult to watch more dragons get injured and die. #TeamDragon😢
