Lifting & Towing Away Flipped Bus at Bukit Batok

Maxson Goh Films the aftermath of an accident between 2 Tower Transit Singapore Mercedes Benz Citaro buses that were on Service 945 at Bukit Batok Bus Interchange. SBS6329P collided with SBS6403H, sending the latter crashing through a barrier and off a low "cliff".

@@12347873 Oh dear...... If it was a double deck, I can't imagine what happened at the Bukit Batok interchange. It would be total pandemonium as the DD will block the whole lane if flipped over onto its side.

Thankfully there wasn't any bus/vehicle on the lower road at the time of the accident. It could have been so much worse. Speedy recovery to the injured. I guess SBS6403H's damage is too extensive to be brought back to service.

I think this bus will be towed to the Mercedes Benz Truck and Bus Service Centre at Pandan Road to be assessed by the service centre first before being towed to the Bodyworks Centre somewhere near Pandan Crescent where the damaged parts( including the doors and glass windows) are dismantled and retrofitted with new parts. After the retrofitting of the new parts, the bus will have to go through rigorous inspection before it can go back to the bus company. Another possibility is that this bus will be assessed and if it is really beyond repair, the bus will be sent to the authorized scrap centre and be scrapped.

Of course the lifting plan and permit are approved or else the authorized personnel can't proceed. To do this, the trained personnel must be flexible in the procedures besides ensuring safety first because they will encounter different situations in which they have to think of other ways.

It is observed from the video, workers (in orange vests) handling the bus did not bother to wear safety helmets to protect themselves in case something drop down. The company should have known the accident had alrdy happened, and yet the workers or bus company never thought of safety. This is about workplace safety. Hope the authorities can comment.

Wearing green reflective vests amongst green buses is not contrasting. Not wearing hard hats and safety shoes is not acceptable. Now we know railings are the weakest link in crash barriers. Time we stopped drivers from being heavy footed on the throttle and power brakes are no match to turbo/supercharged engines.

@@allenchua823 aiyo i know of at least 2 Singaporean born sbs bus driver lei. Both stay at my estate de. They are among the most patience people i have seen so far especially when it comes to driving. I see the endless j walking people who refuse to give way but the bus driver just relax n wait slowly. I remember my dad commented he super patience before n he reply being a bus driver for 15 years teach him to be like that.

@@allenchua823 i have seen bus captain job listed to hire locals or PR at the bus terminal at my estate too. So most likely sbs still recruiting locals who is willing to be a bus captain. If i can choose i rather have Singaporean or Malaysian as my bus captain. At least someone who can communicate in English. Some PRC cannot even communicate with passengers who ask the bus if they stop at certain stations. I find that very annoying so i try to help be translator. But many many road or place name in Chinese i totally don't understand when the PRC tell me so i have a super hard time Google translate n explaining to passenger.
