Ok ok "I am flesh and I am bone" overlayed with the rose bush??? Almost like the concept of the rose bride is neither of those things. I love me some good depressing irony. "The shadow of men who sold their lives for a dream" is so intensely Akio!!!!! Giving up his humanity to be Dios, and then giving up Dios for Akio Also the shot of Utena in her nightgown with "in the dark, the dark the dark, the dark." I find it interesting how you are using the dark to represent Akio throughout. His shadow, the swords Anthy took for him, even his tower all are extensions of him. It is especially fitting with his obsession with the night sky. And how Utena looks so small against the giant window, like she's realizing how powerful he actually is. Also obsessed with how Utena's "in the dark" mirrors Anthy's earlier. "Do you ponder the manner of things in the dark the dark the dark" was used to represent Anthy thinking about Akio. It is as if Utena is just realizing what Anthy has long ago accepted: Akio is the dark. It's also interesting how Akio's dark is contrasted with the "glitter and gold," bright things, which are overlayed with Utena and Anthy. I think the line "you dont remember what your asking for" is so Utena coded, you are right. You wanna be a prince but you forget why. "Everybody in the back room's spinning out" overlayed with Anthy. The spinning motif in RGU! She is trapped in a cycle! She is "spinning" around and around in a cycle of pain. That's enernity. That's why Utena wants to save her. The shots of Anthy impaled with the breathing are so creepy and make me feel so much, they are probably my favorite part of this whole pmv. The shot of Anthy impaled that then fades into Utena during the duel named Revolution at 2:31. It's framed like Utena is either seeing Anthy or becoming her. The envelope and the inverted envelope throughout! An invitation to Akio's duels. It shows up again and again. The inversion showing it is more than meets the eye. The implication that Utena is not inherently trapped, but is rather accepting invitation after invitation. I also think it is interesting how the rightside up envelope is often framed similar to Utena and the inverted envelope more similar to Anthy. When we see Utena's front ->Anthy's front, we then see rightside up envelope -> inverted envelope. Then we see Both Utenas before Right Side Up Envelope, and then Both Anthys before Inverted Envelope. (This at 1:29). Utena just sees an envelope, so she accepts the invitation over and over. Meanwhile, Anthy sees the danger of the envelope, Akio's intentions.Then the shot of the envelope at the end of the breathing section! It is upright, Utena's envelope, her invitation to Anthy's world. But is is surrounded by a black background just as in the shot of Anthy's inverted envelope. Utena sees the invitation and will accept it regardless of the danger or consequences. Also,,,,,, the ending. Devestating. Utena and Anthy are shown reaching out to eachother through the pmv, but never fully touching. But there, Anthy holds Utena fully, and it is only to run a blade through her chest. This is so long, and i definitely misinterpreted some things and reached for others, but that is the fun part of analysis. Great PMV!!!!!!! Thanks for your service

I love the color usage- the colors seem so soft yet deeply contrast with the “dark”, creating a really nice jarring effect, the blue and black create such a nice omen, and how the red is used to symbolize (mostly) violent things (the battlefield, (metaphorical) blood, the rose bride (who has done violent things such as poison)) the swords being (as the song states) of bones and being white, the same color as the Observatory (I think, I forgot the name where Akio does all his nefarious deeds), Akio’s hair/Dios’s hair is so intriguing to me. The fact that Akio and Anthy’s shots (in the observatory/in the garden) mirror each other somewhat is also so interesting. I would analyze more but I feel like I would be misinterpreting if I did 🥲 (I’m confident in media analysis) But nevertheless, I REALLY love this PMV!!! The incorporation of metaphors, symbolism and composition was really good!! ❤❤❤

It is always refreshing to see new eyes and new art on such a great and underrated series. I rewatch Utena often, your imagery is great, and the music choice is apt.

Damn, this is incredible. The increasing swords at each "the Dark" starting at 0:42, that transition at 1:16, the flashbacks during "don't remember what you're asking for"... Really well done.

Coming back to rewatch this again and I actually can’t believe it only has 5k views, it’s sooooo good. I especially like the bridge section. Your art is really beautiful, I love the rendered style, I really admire people who can use it since it seems like the hardest kind of digital art to me. Utena is my favourite show and you really did the themes justice with this beautiful pmv

I've watched this three times now it's so amazing ToT I really really love the color palette you choose and just the way you draw the characters, it's so authentic and pleasing to look at, as an aspiring art major myself who's really into animation this is just incredible Also the song choice OMG that one lines fits Akio so well it definitely feels like he's sold his entire life to a dream

the art is BEAUTIFUL oh my god this is gorgeous !!! I love all the colours used here also, not sure if this was intentional, but the transition at 2:36 makes it look like Utena has the swords piercing through her, which is a very neat detail 👀 !

This has to be one of my favorite animatics out there, i love rgu sooo much and your art has such a exquisite use of shadow and color and linework, specially the blue i think it adds so much to your overall usage of soft colors awwww its so good so so good and the song you chose it fits so perfectly and the way you draw faces brrrrrhajdjsjjdkdkdk i love it so much, i just adored the blue as shadow and linework, srs this is amazing

Dude, I've been watching your videos since my middle school (and highschool lets be real) obsession with Six of Crow and Shadow and Bone I just found this show yesterday and it really feels like my life is coming full circle. Also, this is awesome and amazing and beautiful as all your videos are.
