I just want to put forward a little analogy for those that haven't worked in software development, how inconceivable it is that this is somehow accidental to those of us in the business (that have thought about it for at least 3 seconds). Imagine you work a car factory, and all the bits and pieces are being put together on conveyor belts by robots, tested by robots, manual inspections at key points, and test drivers for the finished product. Some intern comes along, and "accidentally" configures the robots to hook up the spark plugs directly to fuel tank. Somehow, this doesn't impede the rest of the manufacturing process, burning engines and chassis continue along their merry way down the conveyor belts, no one notices anything wrong at all, the entire factory otherwise operates completely in order, and post-production test drivers have no issues with the quality of their driving experience whatsoever. The cars are then shipped off to distributors and dealerships, and only when customers try to drive home in their new ride does it occur to someone that they appear to be malfunctioning. Now, I want you consider that the checks and processes in place to prevent this kind of thing are engineered to be EXCEEDINGLY sensitive to errors, way more than is "necessary". Code that would work perfectly, but fails to meet some arbitrary criteria that adds no tangible value and is completely unrelated to the intended functionality, gets rejected by these processes ALL THE TIME. We as developers/engineers get annoyed that we didn't update the version number and have to restart the entire process again to change it, but still universally agree that it absolutely has to be this way.. precisely because we know that we ourselves will forget to do it and bad things like this could happen as a result.

Really excellent review. As a former (re:ancient) IT person, I came to the same conclusion(s) you did. Now it may be paranoia, but I think it was a deliberate inside hack. And most probably, the mass confusion was cover for some other hack or intrusion. This isn't the end of this story. No way a null pointer on a Windows 10 machine is an accident and I can't fathom how it escapes Beta testing. Therefore, it was deliberate. But to what end.?

I have ran both update and backup systems (fail over) and there are a lot of questions that should be asked; for example, in large corporate systems there are dedicated, isolated update servers and machines to test any updates that could be propagated to the rest of the company's systems. Further, as stated in the video above, there are (or should be) backup systems in place. I can understand if a Mom and Pop operation doesn't have those, but to suggest, as is implied by the Crowdstrike update issue itself, that international companies don't is ridiculous. If a large international company did not have contingency plans, then their entire IT management team needs to be fired and black listed. I wouldn't want them working at my local Geek Squad let alone being in charge of critical business infrastructure.

Did this update install exploits on the systems? A few questions: An adversary could hijacked the deployment process after all testing has been done inject a compromised version just before deployment. And then, after installing its exploits into each computer as a final step, zero out, the.sys file to force a hard reboot of the system, and to cause delays and wreak havoc. Why is everybody talking about how it was deployed and not even talking about what the update did to the computers ? Did Art it installed back doors? Did it install a Time released exploit? Or could it just be a signal sent by an adversary and they don’t want to cause a global panic? When something stinks inside your refrigerator, there’s a reason why let’s think about it guys . Leave a comment with your thoughts. There’s so many possibilities here.

The world ground to a holt because ONE company supposedly issued a faulty software upgrade. Whether it was accidental, or a real world test (we know global leaders have theoretically rehearsed the entire grid going down), it reinforces the reality that we must keep cash and not allow governments to implement a CBDC.

I have said for a couple of decades now that every company using the same exact software creates an Achilles Heal in our world wide computer network. If I can buy an off-the-shelf software bundle everyone uses and determine how to exploit vulnerabilities… 🤔 good thing no one thought to do that until I just thought of that right now. Also, a complete system failure due to a bug in code… So many problems, simple problems, that can cause a complete deviation to modern civilization isn’t a good thing. The whole system is held up by a few threads, each one has the ability to compromise the whole system and if a half dozen of them go out simultaneously, we go back two hundred years-like a time machine.

Hi Scottie, what do you think of signing up to Starlink? I don’t know much about it, just researching now. Anything nefarious 🤔 you may know of? Also, what was the name of your video that you did re setting up an Ethernet connection in your Home? Thanks again for your excellent work 🙏🖖❤🌊🏄♀🕊✨

Starlink is probably the best internet-by-satellite since the satellites are much closer to the planet, and therefor the speed is higher + MUCH lower delay for transmission/reception. Never used it myself, tho! As for the vid on wiring your house for Ethernet, it's here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKq5oaikoZ11r5o

My intuition says it was deliberate. Crowdstrike is not to be trusted (who else is in high positions or is sitting on the board?) Nonetheless, nothing at all changed on my end; I'm just finding out about this anyway. I'm not one to immediately believe everything on the news for starters. P.S. my roof was repaired last week.
