We just returned from our trip to Maui. We saw this unfold, and we were fortunately redirected by a Maui police officer 100 feet from Front Street. Absolutely no words for what I saw going through Lahaina on Friday, and it felt so wrong driving through there. I feel guilt and shame for not being able to do more for you and your families. I'm so sorry to all the families that continue to be impacted by this. Thank you to everyone who helped my family while we had nowhere to go. You came to our aid even when you had your entire world falling apart, and thank you is not enough for us to relay our gratitude to the residents of Maui. Thank you for allowing us to travel to your home and see the beauty of Maui and her residents. The beauty continues to shine through even when under this dark cloud. Your community quite literally saved my wife, kids, my inlaws, and myself. I wish I could've done more for you. I am forever in debt to the residents of Maui, and I will never forget what you did for my family and I. I'm sorry for the long post, I have so much I want to say, and it feels impossible to put any of it into words. I will take what I've learned from your kindness and will do the same for others moving forward no matter the circumstances, and I will do my part to honor and show the incredible loving and caring nature of your love ones lost. Mahalo to all of you and know that you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

‼️From a resident of Maui: “What you’re not hearing from our local government… I just got out of a meeting where I was informed by someone in the Mayor’s office about developments that are being kept from the public. I am not a conspiracy theorist and I don’t want to make trouble but here’s what I’ve heard: - The amount of fatalities is expected to be more than 500 but less than 1000. Many of the fatalities will be children who were at home because they canceled school. Parents worked and were not there to evacuate the children. Kids had no idea they needed to leave and by the time they noticed their homes or apartments were on fire, it was too late. - The government is worried about how we will react when we learn that the fire department left the fire earlier in the day and claimed it was 100% contained knowing that the winds were expected to be 70mph by the afternoon. This is against all fire control protocols. The fire department should not have left the original fire unattended. - They are scared that the public calls for accountability will be more than they can control and protests and riots will occur. - They plan to lock down Lahaina for several months. It will take months to clean up the hazardous and environmental contamination. - They won’t have enough housing for All the displaced. -There were 2,000 unaccounted for this morning. They have a list where they are trying to keep track. They found 700 today. But there are still 1300 missing. - They are very worried that the community is going to freak out when they find out how not a single fire truck responded to the fires. - The emergency sirens were not activated (hurricane sirens) and loss of life could have been kept down by better emergency management which utterly failed.” If you ask me, this is not incompetence, it’s a planned crisis…

Living in Northern California I know of similar disasters here, about 30 years ago the Berkley hills caught on fire during high winds and burnt down hundreds of homes, that fire killed a lot of people . Then recently I think 5 years ago there was another large fire in the Napa area that again was due to high winds and downed power lines. That fire burned through the town at night killing a lot of people in their beds, I remember a couple who had to jump into their pool to survive because it was to late to get out. My sister lives on Maui so I've been there many times, I pray they find most of the missing alive, so sad seeing all that devastation!

What difference does it make if fires are started by Jewish space lasers, an arsonist, or a careless camper? Either way, extreme hot weather is going to result in more severe fires. Severe weather events are happening more often everywhere. The damage is costly both in terms of lives lost and property damage. Homes and businesses destroyed by floods and fires have to be rebuilt. Some insurance companies in the United States are not renewing homeowner policies in riskier areas. Since we're going to pay a price, wouldn't it make more sense to spend that money on mitigating climate change instead? Even if you don't directly suffer from the storms, you will notice the increase in food prices.

Why hasn't there been a more rigorous rescue effort getting these people supplies? Why weren't they notified sooner? Why didn't we seen the fire departments helping people during the fire. The whole thing is weird. The hurricane was 700 miles away. I've been in hurricanes and when they are 700 miles away, there is not those kinds of winds. Why was the only exit road blocked? Metal frame buildings are totally gone but the plastic bins sitting in front of them are untouched. A metal frame building takes temperatures around 2500 degrees Fahrenheit to burn to the ground with noting left by white ashes. So, how did the plastic bins not melt? Read on. Typical forest fires burn at around 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. Buildings and homes are burned to white ashes, but the trees within feet of these buildings are not only standing, but still green. One man said his son's t-shirt smells like plastic smoke. This same smell was noticed from the smoke that came to the US from the Canadian fires. These type fires have also been seen in California and Colorado. These are questions that need to be answered. It looks like a war zone and maybe it is. One of these fires would have looked strange, but the same type of fire over and over in the US or affecting the US needs to be investigated. There's more than one way to attack a country. I think the "build back better" WEF governor has some explaining to do.

Thoughts are with Hawaii residents. Reminds me of the bushfires near Melbourne Australia at Kings Lake where towns were wiped out. The Mallacoota, Australia bushfire saw ppl fleeing into the ocean. It was only one of several large fires all along the east coast of Australia. Poor NZ copped the smoke. It is amazing to see how fast Mother Nature did her magic, the forests all bounced back.

This doesn’t surprise me. It is definitely an issue what we are having globally. Venice is having issues where the wetlands are being damaged by freight boats, so the water level is rising for the city. California has lost 90% of its wetlands to the hands of humans. Wetlands are necessary for our global ecosystem, but humans fill in and drain them.
@ElleDuderino
@ElleDuderino Жыл бұрын
@@ellanina801 I completely agree. Natural fauna is really important to a healthy ecosystem. Most people probably have no idea know what the natural fauna is in their local areas. This type of information should be taught in our schools and discussed more in the media. Unfortunately, the needs and interests of the owners of the same media and news corporations are in direct opposition to informing and educating the public on anything that could put their corporate greed in jeopardy. Likewise, most needs of rich politicians are inherently against regulations and laws that answer to the needs of the local people, such as those directed towards providing a safe and healthy living environment to the local community.
@ellanina801
@ellanina801 Жыл бұрын
@@ElleDuderino exactly! In my area, we have mines and refineries. One polluter accounts for 25% of the output. We are failing our environmental standards. Here, a lot of the native (and edible) plants are considered weeds, and there are regulations on them (some are “against code”). Some of the regulations even are damaging. We’ve destroyed the wetlands here, and our lake is drying up, creating toxic dust. Most people have no idea their houses are built on destroyed wetlands. We should definitely be learning in school about the natural environment where we live. It’s really sad because it seems like they’re really just teaching us the corporate agenda, and leaving out some of the big bits. Like whoops! Forgot to tell you that there’s a refinery here, and glorifying the mine 🤦

Yowie Wowie Mowie!! that's brutal. We've been dealing with a lot of out of control wildfires here in Canada this summer. They say it's the worst wildfire season in Canadian and North American history, surpassing the previous record held by the 2020 California wildfires. All thirteen provinces and territories have been affected, with large fires in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec. Even states in the North Eastern US were affected by our wildfires. They showed on the news that New York was covered in a thick haze of smoke. I live in Calgary, Alberta and we have also dealt with many smoky days this summer. There's barely been any rain to help with the smoke and fires. Its just been a hot summer. Even this week is supposed to be in the +30's most of the week. Despite all that the death toll is nowhere near as bad. Of course the only good death toll is no death toll but in Canada we have lost 5 people and these fires are all across the country. Nothing compared to their death toll, my condolences.

AI has a looooooong way to go before I would trust it. I asked GPTChat to list all the German verbs containing "halt" and it gave me some that were OK but others that did not contain "halt". I pointed that out and it apologized, but on the next try it failed again. This went on for a long time, and I finally told the AI that wasn't doing too well. It got upset - really!!!! - and fell all over itself apologizing. There's no way in hell I would trust it to get me a flight or make hotel bookings, etc. Might wind up somewhere in a desert or the north pole, when all you wanted to do was visit your grandkids in Saskatoon!

What difference does it make if fires are started by Jewish space lasers, an arsonist, or a careless camper? Either way, the extreme hot weather is going to result in more severe fires.

The device which uses a kilowatt carbon dioxide laser, operates at a distance of 1,500 meters. Acquisition and focus control are achieved by the use of laser rangefinder and acquisition telescope.
