Canada could solve poverty with a UBI program. Currently, billions are spent to fund a variety of social service programs. UBI would replace them. There are indirect costs to poverty, including but not limited to health care and policing. UBI would reduce those costs. Billionaires and corporations can afford to pay more taxes to fund UBI.

By the time this is put out or burns it self out. Jasper will never been the same. After a fire destroyed the airport area and the Pine Beetle killed most of the Spruce Trees, the scenery has changed. Now with the location and direction of this fire all your going to be able to see from Jasper is blackend dead trees. So Sad

I think the fires will eventually kill the pine beetles and refresh the growth as has been the case in the past. The beauty will eventually return.

I recommend that most Jasper evacuees go to Kamloops, Kelowna, and Golden In British Columbia to find accommodations. Then, please make your way on Eastbound TransCanada Highway 1 to pass Banff and Canmore to get to Calgary. Drive safely out there!!

Wow ! not many places to go west to BC. when you get to the junction of #5 and #16 you go to Kamloops on #5 or Prince Georges on #16 W. ! Glad i m not on that road anymore ! i was a trucker and that was my road to go to PG or Vancouver ! We never had fires around Jasper ! first time i see that ! Good luck to all !

The government doesn't keep the money from the carbon tax. The money is collected and returned as a rebate. The carbon tax rewards those who use less energy. For example, the mass transit user pays less carbon tax and the guy who drives a big truck pays more. Both get the same rebate. That seems both fair and reasonable.

Jasper evacuation directions. Go to Calgary 5 hr & 35 min drive. through the mountains or Go to Valmont Population 1100 few resources, or to Grande Prairie which is a tough 4 hr and 10 min drive. So why not Hinton. Edson or Edmonton which is just 3 hrs and 50 minute drive. Somebody needs tp give there head a shake
