Fears over recent Israel-Lebanon confrontations unravelling into a full-scale war are mounting around the world. The Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah was hit hard this week, with Israel launching its largest strike on Beirut since 2006. Meanwhile, Israel cancelled large gatherings and enforced public restrictions on Saturday, ahead of an expected retaliation from Hezbollah. Bianca Facchinei has the details.

It’s baffling that we’re considering investing in Brazil’s wildfire issues when the country is deliberately cutting down its rainforests at an alarming rate. Instead of sending $120 million abroad, wouldn’t it make more sense to invest that money here in Canada to tackle our own growing wildfire problems? We could purchase more water bombers, or even look into automated solutions that could enhance our response to these increasingly frequent and devastating fires. But, expecting a Canadian government to prioritize the safety and well-being of Canadians first seems like asking for too much.

I get where you're coming from but I'm not sure how much you know about the Amazon rainforest? It's the literal lungs of The entire world and completely affects how the convection of air circulates from north to south. Have a look up on a documentary in terms of what it does as the largest carbon sink in the entire world and how the oxygen it provides is what's holding our world together, especially the ocean. About what you were suggesting though in terms of other things to be done as I think they should also happen. The fact is that Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, and on and on and on in terms of corporations that make massive profits in Canada and the world more broadly pay. Pay absolutely f****** nothing for their access while still enjoying the roads, education for their workers, health care for their workers, and on and on and on in terms of they enjoy but don't contribute to as they don't pay almost any taxes. Rather than a race to the bottom that Pitts workers against each other and the environment against jobs, how about billionaires? Just actually f****** pay anything?

Thus recovering the costs you try and pass on to them. I am also aware of the Rain Forest being one of the lungs of our planet. However they are burning it down on purpose in order to make farms etc. So until I see that issue being resolved zero money should flow from Canada to Brazil till they fix that issue first. Fires are man made in most case in order to make way for more agreculture and so on. However at what cost. So don't assume I don't know about what the Rain forest does however sending money to a place that allows the burning of such important resources should be put on hold till they solve the current issues.

The money is mostly going back to Canadian citizens who are not abusing their ability to consume fossil fuels. people with gas guzzlers who waste gas by letting their car idle or by not using their vehicles efficiently will not break even if they continue to do so. What you call a tax is actually a price on carbon dioxide pollution. Gas and diesel need to be priced higher so that people who waste it will feel the pinch and cut back. Any tax collected that doesn't get back to you and I is invested in projects like solar and wind power generation. You can look up how much Canada has invested in those. If you vote in the Conservatives and you are aren't wasting gas, You will have a net loss in income because of it. The Conservative lie is that all you are doing is paying the tax and not receiving anything, which is a lie. I pay attention to what is being deposited directly in my account from Revenue Canada, and I am getting back more than I'm paying. And don't let the Conservatives fool you into thinking that the Carbon tax causes inflation. That is also a lie. The cost on diesel for the delivery of goods by transport truck only adds 1/7 of a penny per KG of delivered goods. You can apply that amount to a head of lettuce or a fridge, and it doesn't amount to anything significant.
