Fun fact, the US pulled the B53 9 megaton weapon from the inventory, we dismantled the last of them in 2011 We also pulled the W70-3 Neutron bomb from the inventory and dismantled the last of those in 1996. So as scary as what is in the inventory today may be, it's nothing compared to what we used to have. Officially we have also pulled all chemical, biological and weather manipulation weapons from the inventory, including things like VX and Agent Orange.

@sparkplug1018Ай бұрын
Most likely the US, Russia and China (And NATO members) numbers are based on declassified US intelligence reports for the most part. Can't recall the year they became available but they also included the primary and secondary targets we had these things aimed at. It turned out that we had so many of them we had multiple weapons for various targets "as back ups" just in case the first didn't do it. And that we were also targeting things like rail crossings because we had so many so why not? The numbers for the various former Soviet satellite states likely came from the Megatons for Megawatts project, basically an international project to assist them in dismantling these weapons and refining the core material into fuel for civil energy generation. The number for Israel is likely inferred from a 1980 incident where a total of 810 Krytrons were smuggled out of the US, 469 were returned, Israel claims 341 were destroyed in testing.The Krytron is a critical component in the weapons trigger, and is heavily restricted for export for that reason under ITAR regulations. The DPRK numbers are most likely just guesses based on their propaganda, that being said I would imagine the CIA most likely has a very accurate idea of how many they have.

@@thomasyates3078 Both the U.S. and Iran have renounced commitments thereunder, but only Iran is in question as to why it's on the list. I'm not going to say that Iran restarted because of U.S. withdrawal, because the agreement is technically still in effect as long as Iran and at least one other counterparty to Iran is meeting their respective commitments, which of course was no longer the case after Iran chose to back out. Candidly, it was unrealistic to expect it to last forever under the circumstances, and it may be for the best that it was, in a sense, torn up by Iran. We all have to live with the consequences of having an uncontrolled Iran or Ruzzia etc. loose in the world. It's bad enough without paying extortion money for them to behave, and now with the war going the way it is, there are not enough sanctions ever imagined that could contain them, nor any possible incentives. That said, there are no entirely innocent players in this little game of chance. We all have to do whatever we can to save the world, regardless of whether it works and regardless of what everyone else is doing.
