The Hilltop Pillbox thinking back to the Italian strategy, I decided that taking Paris didn't work, and that surrounding it was easier to protect the Italians. That, and the capital was always stocked with troops that were extra. Rome is too important to not defend!

You are absolutely correct! We didn't see that, and that's why I was taken by surprise. The note on that is written in Italy's breakdown on page 72, but not on UK's or France's info. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hello Stephen, thanks for watching! I have the big one (96X48), and it is worth it! With the large variety of units (militia, infantry, cavalry, different tanks, different planes, facilities, etc.) the extra space is needed! Enjoy!

if you take over an enemies capital, e.g. japan takes Nanking, would china just not collect an income until they get it back? Im pretty sure that is correct, but if i am wrong please tell me. Im also pretty sure that the only case where the victor (the power that takes over the capital) gets the countries money is when Germany takes paris.

Well, according to the rule book, (pg 48), when a capital is taken, that nation just loses all of its saved money. A few countries can actually set up a second capital and begin gaining income again, so be aware of that. Also, China doesn't really act like a normal power, and will only surrender when all of its units are off the board, and it has no remaining territories. (China is a tough one to completely eliminate, and Japan must be careful about leaving territories open, as the Allies can hop in and activate China again!) Do you happen to have info on Germany taking French money when Paris falls? Our rules set (which may be out of date, only says France loses its money, not gives it to the Germans.) Thanks!

Where did you buy that units? They are a lot. I know that I have to buy them on HistoricalBoardGame, but it costs $3,75 for 5 units! It's too expensive, because I have to buy lots of units... Do you have any ideas? The video is awesome, but I didn't understand a thing: after the Spainish Civil War can Germany (or USSR) allign Nationalist or Repubblicans?

Hello Luca, thanks for watching and commenting! I got a lot of units from old A&A games, but also little buys here and there from HBG, or friends, or ebay. Just look for deals when they pop up! Yes, after the Civil War is done, Spain can align with the Axis. In fact, it is a Victory Objective for Germany! Have fun!

the map is divine!! sorry, but what miniature depicts a sea unit and looks like a sharp nose and square stern !? landing craft or TBDs?? please tell me, you have (the Germans) two types of bomber planes: Dornier 217 and Heinkel 111 (and do not forget that there are also Junkers 87 and 88). Question: do you have a difference between them, are there different characteristics of defense, attack, movement? and the same question on tanks, the difference between light, medium and heavy?

Thanks for watching and commenting! Those sea units depict TBD's, as I don't have the sculpts yet. They weren't even available when we filmed, but they should be here soon! The Heinkels are the strategic bombers, while the Do217's represent air transports. I am still getting all the sculpts, but it takes a while! Tanks are depicted mainly by size - the tiny ones are the light armor, and the huge ones (didn't get that far in this video) would be the heavy tanks. Nothing so sci-fi...they are from HBG's game 2025. I was play testing for them, but their focus is on 1936 right now. They carry attack helicopters. Pretty nice sculpt!

What would the strategy be for build up as it’s quite a change for the axis normally just straight off taking territory now they have 3 turns of build up

I think it's important for the Axis to get whatever they think they'll need up to the front. The Germans need to be mobile, and the Italians MUST put huge pressure on Africa. If Germany doesn't build a sub or two each round, the German navy will be gone, or emasculated, on the first turn UK declares war on Germany. The UK navy is huge, and there's nothing Germany can do about it. The Spanish Civil War can be a big drain, so be careful!

I just received my global war 1936 map (i decided 1936 over 1939) and it didn't come with national reference sheets... Are the global war 1936 maps meant to come with them? Or do you have to print them yourself.

Yes, you will need to download and print them yourself. If you have a colour printer, it's easy! If not, then a quick trip to Staples or a similar place, and you are ready to go. That's what I had to do. Well worth the cost!

Thanks for watching! Those cavalry pieces are the ones from a particular version of Risk. Andy brought those, and they worked well.

Different editions of Risk over the past decade-and-a-half will yield different types of cavalry. There are three of which I am aware: cavalryman on the march with sword held against leg (oldest), cavalryman charging with sword raised, and dragoon firing carbine from horseback (newest). Each set comes in slightly different colors. You can probably buy huge lots of older pieces on eBay for peanuts.

Hello Hilltop, I had a question or maybe two but the first was about a comment you had in the video where you said if Rome was taken, all of the Rome units would have to be taken off the board? Does that mean any units that were in Rome and maybe left and went to say Africa have to be removed or am I reading way too much into it? Also I've been wanting to get one of those printed A&A maps that cliffside had made to enhance my gaming experience but then I found out about this game. I love the nice colors of the 1940 game but this game looks so clean and realistic in it's own way. Everything I've seen so far that you've put out on this game has made me want to get this game more because I can see how realistic it is. But my second question is (finally) can infantry attack a bomber in this game? Sorry for the rambling.

Yes, it is a gorgeous map! And, yes, if Rome falls, Italy surrenders and removes ALL Italian forces are removed from the board. That is printed on the Italian National Sheet. If that happens, it is then up to Germany to protect the southern European sector, just like in the real war! And, yes, if a territory with a bomber is attacked by infantry, they can attack the bomber! Defensive bombers cannot "carpet bomb", as per the rules on page 46 - it's pretty clear it's that it's an attack in enemy territory. Enjoy!

We're pretty sure that China is a bit of a different situation, and yes, they would still collect income from any territories they hold. The only way KMT surrenders is if they lose all their territories and units. Otherwise, they keep slugging away. I think that's a good way to do it, mainly because if the Japanese only have to take and hold Nanking to stop Chinese production, well, that'd be too easy. And boring, strategically-speaking.

Ah, those are sculpts from HBG's Global War 2025. They hold helicopters. (That game is still under development, but I've been play-testing it for them.) We use them for our Torpedo Boat Destroyers until those sculpts are available.

Hello Jorun, You're not the first person to mention that! Just FYI: IPC's are Industrial Production Certificates, which are used in Axis and Allies games. This is a game from Historical Board Gaming, and they use IPP's, which are Industrial Production Points. Hope that clarifies things!
