Climate change is now a more fundamental threat than terrorism or Vladimir Putin, according to the Foreign Secretary.

In a major speech, David Lammy pledged to put the climate emergency at the heart of Britain's foreign policy, announcing plans to create a global clean air alliance.
He made the vow as death tolls continued to rise from flooding in central Europe, Southeast Asia and Nigeria. But where will the money come from?

1, if he was a true believer, he'd tax imports from nations with a more carbon intense energy sector, meaning reshoring alot of industry. 2, Lower migration as adding to the population of a high consumption economy is likely generate more carbon per person. 3, if global birth rates continue to dive this really isnt a big deal as population decline will wipe out much of the carbon emissions. I am an Engineer with experience and qualification in the climate area. I am very pessimistic . There is no way that many countries are willing or able to do what is necessary . The UK can spend lots of money on ''setting a good example'', but it is a drop in the ocean . The only effective option is the use of force , both economic and military , to reduce carbon emissions . Even if carbon emissions are virtually eliminated, the world is in for a torrid time , as existing carbon and other greenhouse gases do not go away but continue to heat up the atmosphere .
