DISL, LowKey, and Akala are the best influences in music out there today. Heads and shoulders above pop music and doing what art is supposed to do - make you think and provide a new perspective on life. Unfortunately the music pushed through the airwaves by special interests (profit motive) is not meant to stretch the mind or empower, but to prime our minds for advertising and consumption in order to feed the stuff-making/selling economic machine. Not that there aren't great artists or music producers out there, but the interests of their context provide restraints on how honest or controversial they can be (actually controversial, not benign and vapid manufactured conflicts). Artists like DISL, LowKey, and Akala have the interests of truth and art instead, and it shines through clearly in their music. What a breath of fresh air, thanks guys :)

First and foremost this is part of a assignment for the course I am studying at this current point in time.That being said I greatly admire musicians like Disl with the true integrity in the message they are trying to convey. Because they obviously have the skill and ability to be able to become commercial if they just talked about the same meaningless crap that most music today talks about. trying to distract people from the real problems of the world. Because of artist like Disl make such true music with a truly important message, they will never become commercial successful and as a result will never make as much money as the fake in the music industry. Even though they could easily break into the scene with the skill and flow they have rappers like lowkey, Akala, Immortal Technique and Beast 1333 to name a very few will never compromise their integrity for a pay check. Which in today's world is a truly commendable quality in someone. The skill and dedication it would take to reach such levels of skill and ability, to not be noticed by as many people as other's with out even half the skill must become frustrating at time's for such artist. Which is another indication of how dedicated they are to message they are trying to share and live by. Most people who fight against the system and actually get a large following and audience usually end up dead. To be able to fight for something with such integrity and strength without anywhere near as much recognition and appreciation that is deserved is extremely commendable. I am sure that there are many people who feel the same or share they same views as these artist's but how many actually make the sacrifices to fight for what they believe in. That is what makes these artist's even more important and a rare bread. Most would not be able to follow the same path because of how hard that path actually is. I myself and very guilty of this I think and feel the same about many of the issues and belief's these artist have. But I do nothing to fight against it or stand up for my own right's not only because you are seen as some crazy conspiracy theorist but also because I am used to living an easy and comfortable life. Even though I know people are starving right now and dying for my country to live well I do nothing about it. How many others are in the same place as much I am sure a lot of you are. This is why we must support artist like this as they are standing up for all our rights and fighting for what we believe in but also having the strength to do so. I just want to say thank you to all artist that put their message and belief's before anything else.
