Oh darn! That means I can't drill a hole in it to make pendant light!

I have seen a lot of glass insulators used in Europe on their high tension lines and their lower voltage distribution lies in France and Spain. These are most likely toughened glass.

It's cool to see that pretty aqua blue still used in power lines

yea, they are really beatiful, wowowo

I don't understand how at 4:21 the insulator is remaining structurally continuous... If these glass insulators don't have holes in the center for the metal connections between them to go through (obviating their purpose as insulators if they did!) but rather cemented to either side of the glass separator, then how are those strings still remaining intact with one of the glass pieces totally broken and missing??

I would guess the glass fragments are still large enough to anchor both sides of the metal "cups" the glass seem to have a stepped shape so maybe the same tensile forces make the glass fragments "roll" and get stuck.

2:30 Wow, I'm absolutely amazed. I never knew this type of insulator was so tough. It's like metal.

What monster installation was that at 4:16 !?

Looks like a power station, doesn't look that odd

Agreed about it being monster, I've never seen so many strings supporting a single cable.

@YAKUMO RAN Yes a river crossing would make sense, I have seen similar arrangements now I think about it.
