Breaking burning tiles, Karate demo by BWGS girls (GYV)

In this video students of Bishop Westcott Girls' School, Namkom have demonstrated their self defense skills through Karate and its allied Martial Art forms. From use of Samurai to breaking tiles on fire they have shown how girls can not only defend themselves at times of altercation and attack but have also demonstrated their skill to save others.Few girls have also shown their skill in contact combat while others have demonstrated some of the famous moves from Hollywood movies featuring Jackie Chan and Bruce lee.
Bishop Westcott Girls' School Namkom celebrated it's 41st Annual Athletic meet on the 5th day of December. The meet was presided over by Bishop of Chotanagpur diocese & president Bishop Westcott group of schools Rt.Rev. BB Baskey where as Academic Advisor to Governor, Jharkhand Prof. Anand Bhushan graced the occasion as chief guest. Principal of the school N Jacobs welcomed the dignitaries,parents and alumni and encouraged the participating students to put up a good show .
The event started with the welcome dance on Nagpuri beats-Hay re hamar sona Jharkhand by the senior students. it Was followed by hoisting of the athletic flag and releasing of balloons in the air. Star athletes of the school ran with the sports torch to ignite the sports day torch placed on the middle of the field. A colourful March past was performed by selected students of all three houses and 160 students of class 10. The March past was adjudged by Mrs. N Baskey , Mrs. L Terom Rev. A Barwa, Dr. N Vani, Ms. SK Bright ,Rev. J Kujur and Mr. M Rozario.
Students of all three houses- Faith, Joy and Peace participate in the closing march past under leadership of their respective house captains. Chief guest Anand Bhushan and host N Jacob, Principal BWGS Namkom, grace the colourful march past which also included a contingent of Class X girls who are all prepared to take the ICSE school finals in 2019.
Senior Students of Class IX and X of BWGS, Namkum have always made a mark in terms of choice of theme and extending social message during the Annual Athletic Meets. This year the students presented a beautiful dance item on the theme of Empowered Women based on a slow song titled bekhauf Azaad Jeena hai mujhe...The dance cum act concluded with showcasing how women have mastered in all walks of life. From soldiers to doctors and from teachers to engineers no field is alien to the women of todays world. Journalists, scientists, politicians all have excelled in their respective fields that were once considered male bastion.
The first event of the meet was 50mts hurdles C B & A division followed by a performance by KG students based on theme "Save Water".
Class III & IV presented a mass drill using decorated rings based on the theme "World Peace", While class V& VI came up with an award winning performance of mass drill based on western classical music and famous Hindi bollywood number --Jai ho... from slumdog millionaire. Students of class VII and VIII gave the message of--Stop deforestation save generation --through their colourful mass drill in encapsulating green attire. Besides there were performance on Yoga and Karate.
