I own both of these pistols and the HK is a better made pistol, hands down. You can see and feel the quality of the HK. The HK's have everything that you need out of the box. Glock;s are good pistols too but they are not in the same league as an HK pistol.

HK is on another level regarding production quality process : off the charts for all their firearms. But Glock is also quality, be it in a more utilitarian way.

I have a Glock 27 and a HK P30SK with the LEM. Both great. However the P30SK came with night sights. The P30SK just feels perfect in my hand. However the Glock 27 without an extension to the magazine feels very close to perfect. My little finger curls under the grip perfectly. The TruGlo TFO aftermarket sights are much brighter in daylight and also at night. The LEM trigger is very very good. Accuracy is almost equal with P30SK being a little better. So nearly equal, still use either but just love that HK.

I love my HK,s too, I bought 7 of them so far. I have 3 Glock,s but they do not get any action at the range anymore because I just cant get over the way they feel in your hand. And I hate the angle of the grip, the pistol does not point naturally like other pistols that have the 1911 grip angle. Like I said, Glock's are good pistols but they are not as awesome as many claim to be either.

Well...”Better” is subjective. I think the HK is a higher quality firearm, but there is a reason the Glock is so popular (pointed out in this review). I prefer the HK VP9SK...doesn’t make it “Better”.

I traded my G26 for my P30SK a year or so ago. The only thing I did to my HK is put in the shorter slide stop lever because with my thumbs forward grip, I would prevent the slide stop from engaging after the last round....easy fix. The HK feels like it was molded to fit my hand and I love the LEM trigger. I find the size and reliability to be about the same between both guns. The grip and trigger are what win me over on the HK.

Some HK P30SKs come with factory tritium sights and 3 magazines. HK has improved magazine internals such that they have the old 10 round magazines plus 12, 13 and 15 round magazines. The 12 round magazines can be flush or have an extension. Both are flat in the back to not imprint while concealed. The 13 and 15 round magazines have slim spacers such that there is no gap at the bottom of the grip. The LEM trigger (terrible name choice) is really a 2 stage trigger kinda like the Geissele SSA-E. First part very reduced pressure, then at the wall an additional 3 pounds will fire the weapon. The reset is very short. The LEM trigger is awesome. The P30SK is also fully ambidextrous. The magazine can be dropped with your thumb or forefinger.
@maximusjoseppi5904
@maximusjoseppi5904 7 жыл бұрын
The LEM trigger is not REALLY double action.. It technically is, but its a poor way to describe it to people who don't know what it is. It's much more accurately described as single action with a long take up or 2 stage trigger. The hammer is split into 2 parts.. The cocking part, which is internal and where the hammer spring attaches, and the external hammer, which is mostly fake until engaged by the internal part. The external part of the hammer only has a function when the sear breaks and the internal part pushes on the external part firing the gun. When the slide is racked, it cocks the internal hammer mechanism which is where all the tension is held and the external part of the hammer is then free. The only tension on the trigger and the external hammer is the small trigger spring (about 1lb) until you get to the sear, at which point theres a 4.5-5.5lb break. Similar to a 2 stage rifle trigger. So in function, its really a single action trigger but since its moving an unsprung secondary external hammer, it makes it classify as a double action.. It's almost the exact same as a striker fired gun. Saying its double action makes it sound terrible when its really not a true double action. In fact, the light LEM trigger is usually lighter than the SA in the DA/SA version.

@maximusjoseppi5904
@maximusjoseppi5904 7 жыл бұрын
no prob. i only mention it because i had a disgusted look on my face the first time someone tried to explain what the LEM trigger was because they said its "double action only." which we all relate to an abysmal 10-15lb trigger pull before we get to SA on our DA/SA guns or DA revolvers. was only after i learned about it, installed it, and used it that i was like ohhhh, this is awesome. another trick to know about this style trigger is even though the external hammer is free, you do have direct external control of it. so when re-holstering the gun you can hold your thumb over the back of the slide and even if you accidentally ever bumped into the trigger, the trigger cant move cause its directly attached to the hammer. (i knew a cop that fired his glock into his ass doing that) so you get all of the safety of a DA trigger but the light crisp SA pull.

Had the opportunity to shoot the HK at the range two weeks ago. I would say it has real good ergonomics and it is my favorite long trigger pull gun. However, I traded for a Glock gen5 26 the other day. It has just a tad less recoil than the HK and a little better ergonomics than the gen4 Glock. That's not to mention the 4oz. wt. difference between the HK & 26. I think the gen5 26 is under cut a bit higher than the gen4. Anyway, I like the spartan appearance of the Glock better so for me it was an easy choice.

Venom GT72 Thank you for pointing that out. You might be labeled a 'Glock Hater' now. I neither love nor hate Glocks, but their fan boys can be annoying as hell (not that TheFireArmGuy is one of them). The fans sometimes use price comparison in favor of a Glock. Then, when someone points out the fact that one has to upgrade sights, grips and or recoil spring, the Glocksters point out that that is a strong Glock buying point: So many after market options available!! I'm looking to buy a CCW pistol; not a project.

I got my P30sk used for $425 in good shape used. It oozes quality and fits the hand like a glove. I like 2A/SA better for carry these days dur to enhanced safety on the draw. I have a P30sk without a frame safety and I carry in condition one. I also have a Glock 19. I don't bother with the 26 because to me they carry almost the same. The hard part of carrying it is its girth. The extra butt is not of equal consequence compared to the extra five rounds. If I were really nervous about an area I'd carry the Glock. I shoot the P30 a bit better as the ergos are superior.

Have both HK-P30 AND P30SK. Much prefer the safety and decocker with visible hammer over a Striker fired pistol. I can see exactly what condition the gun is in for safety reasons. P30SK grips are great and the foot on the magazine fills out the hand for a grip that feels solid. Also own a Sig 229 in .40

I have owned both and have more rounds down range than I can count. The HK is the V3 DA/SA and is my favorite. After carrying and shooting both, my Glock has found another home. I like the advantage of carrying cocked and locked as I do with my 1911s. Manual of arms very similar. The de-cock is also a plus. Accuracy for me is much better than with my old Glock.

I own a glock 26 and h&k vp9. If I had to pick up one gun, it would be the Glock . Not because its a better handgun but because it is a simpler with nothing going on on the frame or sights. H&K is a better made gun and you have alot going on with the frame. Stuff that's nice to have, but not necessary for shooting. When the new H&K vp9 subcompact comes out; however, I will be the first in line.

Once again a well done video. I recently bought a H&K VP9 and I am waiting for H&K to send me four free 15 round mags that they are offering in a promo at this time. I want to ad the p30sk 9mm just because I like it also. I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) that the 15 round magazines will work in either gun. I have and have owned several Glocks and I feel that they are good guns but the H&K seems to be more bang for the buck and feel awesome in my rather large hand.

I rate the following as the two best self defense CCW / EDC's of all time : 1. The Beretta PX 4 Storm Compact Carry 9mm 2 . The Glock 26 Gen 4 9mm Would you do an extensive full review and comparison ?

I hope you find one And do the vid I personally would be most interested ! My opinion is that it's the best self defense CCW / EDC ever produced . Perhaps you could even put 124gr 9mm GDHP +P 's through the pistols , which i rate as the best self defense round ever produced !

Glocks are the AK's of the pistol world, simple and reliable and accurate enough, never cared for rails on handguns myself. While the HK's are better quality overall and many other great guns seem better built than the Glock, I never fear i'm going to break my Glock or wear it out. I just know i,ve fired a few thousand rounds through my Glock and it has NEVER malfunctioned, that give me peace of mind when carrying it.

I wonder if there is any chance if HK would make a HK P30sk slim (single stack like) version. Seems like it would be an awesome offering. Where its overall slimmer more like glock 43 or glock 43x. Of course with a magazine similar to sig p365 or springfield hellcat. Of course i'd love if sig offered a new version of sig p239 and or p225 that takes p365 mags.

I prefer the H&K hammer fired, BUT the G 26 is not only lighter, but it is rounded and smoothed in all the right places. SO with that said, I would have to say that G26 is my choice for concealed carry. Just make sure it has that trigger guard covered with a product like the Blitz Holster BH-43 Trigger Guard Holster.

I know these re my favorite reviews that you do .When you use the G26 or the G19 as a baseline ,its so easy to see the size and features on the other pistol . I carry my G26 in my EDC every day with 2 extra Glock mags with the Glock Plus 2 baseplate . On most of my Glocks I use the standard mag and add a gap enterprise base gives me a little something to hold my Glocks when I draw from CCW . so again 2 12 round mags in my bag and a 10rd in the G26 . I also carry 3-4 G19 mags a box of fifty rounds under the seat 1 happystick and 4 GI metal mags for my truck gun . And I have been wearing my G42 with the Taran Tactical plus 2 bases 8rd mags , I carry 9 in the G42 and a spare 8 round mag in my pocket everyday , Plus a few Blades :)))

Love your Vids Dan. Look forward to every single one. been eyeing the P30SK. Watching this I realized sometimes the plain Jane will get you where you need to be. G26 is a great platform. My Sig P320C .45 broke out of the box , ejector, and was ammo fussy for 600 rounds. My G30sf just runs everything I put in it. I just bought 3 more mags bringing me to 5 standard and 1 extended for it. My initial purchases were a shield and a several sigs .I think, despite youtube, that I am becoming a Glock fanboy . Sometimes simplest is best. Although if they come outwith a VP9SK I may change my tune. Hope the wife and daughter are well. God bless.

Greetings, my friend! I'd go with the HK too if money wasn't a critical factor. Love the mag releases like that of the HK's and the other features. Like you said (and I agree), there is not anything wrong at all with the Glock-it's just like vanilla ice cream for me, I like it but, I'd rather have the ice cream with something in it or a different flavor. Variety, the spice of life! Lol! Great job as always and thank you for the video! 😉 Take care and you guys are always in our prayers Dan. Your friend, The Rev.

Nice looking pistol, it caught my attention. Seems a good option for carry. Being 6.1 with hands going accordingly I was just wondering how I would fare with that short grip. I currently own a Beretta PX4 compact and I'm quite happy with it,it's just a bit on the fatty side.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the Px4 is a nice one, probably underated. I forgot to mention that it came to replace a G26. Don't like Glocks' grip,issues with feeding conicals and it was a bit too light for my taste. That's one thing I like about the PX4, it's heavy considering it's a compact. By the look of it the SK seems to have better ergonomics. No problem with shooting with my pinky under.

Nice vid, however for constructive criticism (if such thing exists on interwebs) would have liked to have seen the Gen 4 Glock (even though being well aware that differences are negligible), as well as omitting Pierce grip extension to pit both products against one another as they come from factory.

Hk takes a very dim view of aftermarket parts. I had a hk parts extended mag plate that did not lock into the mag. Hk now sells a great 13 round mag made by the company. My pistol is the decocker hammer fired model with manual safety. Fabulous.

I'll say both are likely above average on reliability, but hey, a Glock is a Glock for dependability. If it's my option between the two, I'd have to go with the HK. Nothing against the Glock, but I have had 2 in the past (Glock 19 and 42). Both were great guns but I had issues with the grip angles (19 mostly). The trigger guard would cut into middle finger. I can't bash Glock tho. Excellent guns. Good stuff TheFireArmGuy thank you!
