The Glock 27 is literally the perfect carry gun. It's the complete package. Powerful 40. 9+1 or 10+1 factory extended mag. Hot loads. Mild loads. Swap barrels to 9mm or 357 sig. it's perfect and I LOVE the slight recoil of the 40! Love it! Word of advice: don't overthink recoil or "snap". At the range. Pick it up. Quick aim. And just pull the trigger like a boss. Don't overthink it. Just pull the trigger. Be a boss. You will love it.

Agree. It was my first pistol purchase at my local gun shop and when they didn't have it and tried to turn me towards the Springfield I demanded the Glock and had it ordered. I love the way it shoots and the feel. Sure I can double tap with a CZ75 at much farther range and be more accurate than the Glock but I think it is just becuase I need to practice more and the CZ75 is also a full size "wonder" 9 and one of the most accurate 9's ever made. Both serve purposes, the Glock is concealed and high pressure round that sounds louder than 9mm and has much more advantages when you compare JHP expansion to a 9. The .40 is even close to the .45 and sometimes better depending on brand when you look at hollow point expansion into gelatin. God bless the S&W .40

Because all of the weight is above your hand, you hardly feel the recoil. It just "bounces" up. When I was a 110 pound super scrawny 14 year old I could rapid fire it no problem.

Lol i went from .380 to .40 with zero issues. I do have a 12 gauge with a pistol grip that i shoot slugs out of, and a 45-70 marlin 1895, so I might not count. I like the 357 sig due to the rifle-like dynamics of the round but not sure if i'd be sacrificing reliability swapping barrels

Hickok45.... I wanted to take a minute to thank you for all of the demonstrations and critiques of various weapons. I value your insight and opinion and wanted you to know that we are listening. I'm a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and I have been shooting since I was 9 years old and over the years, I have continued to pick up small pointers from your demo's that have helped me become a better marksman. Keep them coming and I'll keep watching and learning. By the way, like yourself, I love my Glock 27! It is the ultimate defense weapon. Nick Dickerson

I entered a Two-Gun competition with this little Glock 27. I now have a Glock 34 but at the time that was my smallest caliber gun, LOL. Anyways, the Glock 27 has never jammed, misfired, or misfed on me EVER!!!! The other thing about this little gun is that if you point it right it will hit your target. In other words there is very little deviation on where it hits from round to round. This little gun earned me a second place with the fewest point penalties out of all competitors. My absolute MUST, MUST, MUST in carrying a concealed gun is that it's going to fire when and where I tell it to. This gun absolutely WILL!!!!

I've "heard" lots of things, but my experience is what I base things on, as in at least 20 years of loading and shooting .40. To each his own. It's become fashionable to knock the .40. :-)

Yep, it's always a trade-off: caliber, weight, size, etc. The 45 GAP pistols are a little heavier and thicker than the .40s and 9mms.

No, I've seen them, though. I'm sure they would be good in many ways, but they are really different, and I don't want anything too extreme that I don't have on ALL my pistols. I don't want to get used to something pretty different unless it's on all my defensive pistols, and I'm not likely to switch out all my sights on all my pistols. Plus, I'm not sure I'd like them for plinking and such at various ranges. Up close and dirty, they might be great, though.

Unless you've had a chance to shoot the G26 or G27 and know you like them, I'd go with the G19. It's hard to go wrong on that one.

Love the comments on finish wear. Spent 20 years in LE and started back when all cops carried revolvers. Some of those revolvers had been carried for years and the finish wear was significant, and they worked just as well as the brand new ones. Enjoyed this one as I have your other videos.

Yep, the size and weight makes a big difference to people who actually "carry." So many of us start out with something thick and heavy thinking it will be fine, but within a year, everybody is shopping around for something smaller and lighter. Also, once we get past anecdotal evidence, which can "prove" anything we want to prove, the results of actual street shootings do not seem to show much difference, if any, between the .40 and the .45.

Both of my glocks are .40 cal. I have the 27Gen 4 and 23Gen 4. Love my 27 for summer-time or hot weather carry (easier to conceal) and I carry my 23 during the fall and winter months as its bigger but I have the ability to conceal it under my jacket/sweatshirt. To anyone looking at either of these guns, and specifically the 27 for the purpose of this video...I highly recommend. They have never failed me and never had a failure to extract or jam after thousands of rounds through them!

Yeah, we really got started by doing some Glock videos. If we've not done a Glock shoot-out for a few weeks, I start getting a strange feeling that something is missing. :-) I can usually find an excuse to dig out a Glock if I'm in the mood! :-) Actually, this one I did not have to "dig" out; it's usually right there on my belt.

The 10mm does not have a lot more snap because the 10mm slide is thicker and heavier. AT least in the Glock, it's the same thickness as the G21. Fun gun and smooth to shoot, but the G29 and G20 are much heavier than the .40 caliber Glocks.

Recoil did not felt bad and it was accurate at 7 and 10 yards. No complains this is my new EDC weapon love it! Too much fun today

The Glock 27 is pretty "manly"; in fact, I don't recommend it at all if one is recoil sensitive. Maybe it's a stretch, but some refer to it as a "professional's" gun. I think the point there is that the Baby Glocks are not necessarily the best choices until one has reached a certain level of pistol proficiency. A bigger gun is much easier to shoot well for anybody with limited experience.

Blows my mind how fast you're on target after a miss . I'm pretty new to guns, I have the M&P M2.0 full size and just passed my cpl class last weekend. I am trying to decide what I want to carry, torn between the M&P Shield & this Glock . Thinking more towards the Shield because its basically baby brother to the full size 2.0. Love your videos, and appreciate the knowledge as a beginner in the gun community, you're an awesome shot! Thank you.

This is simply excellent. I have always loved shooting, but I never planned to carry everyday....until I realized that I live in the US. I carry the G27 inside my beltline, and a compact Taurus .357 on my ankle, and I also wear a new gold flex vest. I recommend these actions to anyone that lives in warzone state, like Texas.

H45-My everyday carry is a G27 and I too have noticed the wear on the slide. About a year ago, I used duracoat to refinish the slide and since then, I have not had any wear.Duracoat now makes a kit that you can do at home with no special equipment and it does not require oven curing.I used this product to refinish one of my AR15s and it worked great.

Just the underside of the trigger guard, as I demonstrate in my Glock Mods video. There are so many holsters that seem form-fitted for the square trigger guard that I'm reluctant to mess with it. Also, with my extra large hands, I rather need that long platform out there to rest the pistol on my left index finger. If not for those two reasons, I'd definitely be turning those ugly trigger guards into a more graceful work of art. :-)

I used to think Glocks were ugly. Once I learned more about them and had one for a while, I came to realize just how beautiful they really are. Perhaps not aesthetically beautiful, but their design is so elegant and simple, it's amazing. I believe the Glock handgun will one day be considered on the same level as the great designs of John Browning.

. . . . or the 9mm, for that matter. A pistol cartridge is a pistol cartridge; physics is physics. Until one moves up to a shotgun slug, results don't change dramatically.

I have never looked back. This is a great pistol. My wife and I can't shoot again until after deer season. We shoot and hunt on the farm here in Virginia. When we shoot, we shoot a lot. Mr Hickok45 I have recently bought my first handgun in ten years. I went with the model 27 gen 3. I watched countless hours of your videos and loved your take on the 27. I had ten years previous owned the glock 26 and I really liked the gun. I would have went back to the same but was really swayed by your 27 reviews. I purchased the gun from a private seller claiming it had never been fired. I am no pro but I looked it over and looked to be unfired had the factory gold grease stuff on the rails. I know this could have been replaced. Something I wasn't familiar with was people polishing their barrels. The ad mentioned polished barrel. I just assumed this was a profesional thing that was done and didn't think to ask. It also has been upgraded or downgraded with tru glo night sights tritron I think it's called. Well what I am getting to I have since found out that this barrel polishing business is done a lot of times by the gun owner and not a profesional. I went to the range the other day and from 25 yards I was utterly ashamed of my shooting. As I stated I owned the glock 26 years previous and I could at least stay on the target at 25 yards. I had moderate time fireing guns growing up. So I don't think my shot is that poor. Out of 100 rounds I only put maybe 5 on the target. I was at the range alone so no one to tell me where I was hitting. The best of my ability it appeared to be slightly left and very low. My question for you is regarding the barrel. Has the barrel been destroyed by the polish job? Could it be the reason my shooting was so poor? Could the sights be that bad? I'm thinking the guy had to have them installed by a gun shop. No signs of physical damage to the slide from wrong tools being used. So sir please help me or whoever reads this please help me. Do I just stink at shooting the 27 or are my concerns of damaged gun possible? Should I buy a new barrel? Stock or aftermarket? Lone wolf or storm lake. Should I have factory sights put back on? Also with the magazine in and one in the pipe I can push on the hood of barrel and get a slight movement. Even more if the magazine and round are not present. Is this common? Or result of bad DYI? Another thing when I break the gun down and look at the barrel, slide and spring assembly the spring is not completely seated in the space in the barrel. It is slightly lower. Again is this typical? I am really hoping you can take the time to respond I have a feeling your a very busy man. But the guy who seems to know his Glock 27's inside and out. I will be looking forward to hearing from yourself or from anyone who is as knowledgeable. I know for sure I will buy brand new next time! Or really know what I'm buying first. I hope my purchase isn't a total loss. Thanks Hickok45 for all your videos, I love learning from them. Oh ya, Keep smoking them pots! Ha ha love it.

There's no tellin' who put the sights on. I have the same gun and sights, mine works great. If the shot groups were in about the same place every group, your sight simply needs adjusting. Review that procedure on U-Tube, make sure you have the correct tool to make the adjustment on your rear sight. (small Allen wrench, soft head punch or hammer to move rear sight.) You may be able to move the sight easily after it's loose, not sure. Be prepared at the range. Bring several new targets, it's easy to mistake old holes for the ones you just shot. OR bring a roll of masking tape to cover the old holes with as you shoot. It may take a few hundred rounds to get comfortable with the new gun and snap in the new trigger. At home, cycle slide, pull trigger,, repeat a few hundred times. This always helps with a new gun. Safe Shooting.

There IS no "better," just different. The G29 is great, but it's thicker and heavier. It always depends on your purpose for the firearm ( CCW, hunting, target plinking, home defense, dinosaur control, etc.)

For $125 I can get a conversion 9mm threaded barrel. A couple G17 mags and some super hi cap magazines and it's just good old plinking fun. My chosen duty weapon now that I am in a mainly administrative role. I like the GEN 4 over the previous editions for several reasons,

I put a Glock brand night sight for the front sight and the next higher metal Glock brand sight for the rear on my G26. They are really nice and not as expensive as some other brands. The main problem I had shooting a Glock style pistol was using the reset on the trigger. That little click then pull ,instead of fully releasing the trigger. Just shoot alot and it becomes second nature. I going to go shooting now instead of watching videos.KZbin feeds my laziness. Thanks for the videos .

Good video, Hickok45. A lot of comments about different calibers & shooting-irons going-on. A man has to choose own shoes that are comfortable to wear; the same philosophy is true with guns & calibers.

Love all your videos I think people watch cause they find u give alot of info about the gun. Hell the last two guns I picked up was cause u liked them so much. Glock 27 is my favorite gun also. It feels like a part of my body. I find it extremely accurate feels like I can shoot a bee flying in air with it. I dont care what anyone says I think its the better gun to carry. Thanks again for the best videos. Keep on making them.

Holster wear occurred on my Glock 19 Gen 3 FYI if it bothers you like it did me, you can send off the slide to Glock in New Smyrna Ga and they will refinish your slide for $45.00. Just a heads up...Haven't sent off yet not sure if the wear bothers me worth $45.00 or not but thought I'd pass that on Peace...

That's good to know. I might send them my Gen 5 G19 slide and ask them to refinish it with the much more desirable Gen 4 finish. ;-)

Truglo tritium fiber optic night sights I have had a pair on every single glock since 2010 and I love them. They make the point of aim a little high for me but I'm not a bullseye shooter as long as I can get it in the heart and lungs portion of the target I'm happy.
