Glock made me a real believer in a positive retention style holster or trigger guard holster or even ultra simple Glock OEM $15 plastic "jock strap) holster. "All triggers are single action " is my personal muscle memory drill.

Every time I mess with mine. I don't care that I know there is no round in it. I will absolutely rack it and do a visual. When pro shooters who shoot 1000s of rounds tell you. The gun went bang because we were lazy and lax. That is all I need to hear. These guys live with guns daily. They truly know the real deal.

Very well done review, and the safety-check advice at the beginning was totally on point. I guess the only thing I have a different opinion on is on the looks of the two guns. Personally, I really like the Glock design. It's so clean and functional -- sort of like a piece of vintage Scandinavian furniture. To me, it's the best-looking gun on the planet. Plus, they just feel great in the hand (my hand, anyway), and I love the way they shoot. As striker-fired guns go, they're the best in their class. Plus, I think they're a great value compared to some brands. Once again, I enjoyed the review.

I agree. Breaking Glock down is a pain. Yes, you can buy a mod from Glock to make it easer.

You cant remind about safety too much. The slide should already be open and the mag removed when you hand a gun to somebody

Both are great guns. I own and carry the XDm for many of the same reasons you own yours. I'm not sure about yours or where you live but mine came with the 13 round mags instead of the 9. and the large mag is a 19 round mag. It's a fun gun to shoot and easy to break down. There's usually the battle of opinions when it comes to guns but I'v found that you just have to buy, use and carry the one you like the best instead of what people tell you. Glock seems to be the benchmark when it comes to firearms and I love that they're so versatile. I bought the XDm because I liked that many of its features were in line with Glock but I wanted the safeties. Great video...

I agree in general about safety checking with one exception. Regarding KZbin videos, you can safety check before turning the camera on.

I was the same way, swore em off due to fan boys. but traded to the 30sf and I like it. after I upper cut the trigger guard. and low and behold I now have to cerekote mine cause of a fan boy painted roll marks and trade marks! why folks do that is beyond me. it's not like people can't see its a dang Glock.

With a dermal, I rounded and polished mine. I don't notice it now. But anybody who handles my clock always asks. Why does your Glock feel good in my hands?

I just wish Springfield would shave a few ounces off of all their pistols! And I agree, Glocks don't have the best design or craftsmanship. The hump and the squareness of the grip has prevented me from owning another. I sold my 23. I just couldn't get used to the hump in the heel of my hand.

Safety check is great but putting the finger in the barrel is a little over the top.
@mdubb4855 Жыл бұрын
Finger check because visual checks are quicker and easier but not as reliable. Especially if a user manually puts the last one in the chamber instead of letting the slide strip in in off the magazine, then slowly eases the slide closed. Or if the brass is a tarnished older cartridge. Inverting the pistol and shaking might not work if the chamber is grimy or the cartridge is a reload and a little snug.

I owned the Glock 30SF and found it to be a great pistol. The only negative thing I experienced was the same you did which was the undercut area between the grip and rear trigger dug into the side of my middle finger. I smoothed it out with some with 180 grit paper and it felt much better. Ended up selling it and now have the XDm 3.8" in 45ACP (love it!).l

Great video! I own an XDM 3.8 40 S&W and love it. I'm with you in the look of the Glock and I don't really care for the trigger, but I have reconsidered and thinking of buying a Glock. Why??? The damn thing has more accessories than you can shake a stick at and that's very important to know. That's a wonderful thing being able to use all 9mm mag in any gen from 1st gen to 4th gen and the mags are a whole lot cheaper. Plus a boat load of aftermarket parts are made for it. I still love my sexy ass XDM with it's match trigger and barrel, but will be picking up an ugly Glock this year. LOL

Nice job. So right about the saftey checks. My glock 30sf doesn't eject the spent shell casings very far after firing. They some times will bounce of the Bill of my baseball hat. Also the mag release is very tight and have to press very hard during speed mag changes. This is my first glock. Will these characteristics work themselves out after shooting several rounds?? BTW, I felt the same way about Glocks as you did. I welcomed my new Glock into my Sig family and really enjoy shooting it.

Nice video! The G36 and G30sf Trigger Guards rub my middle finger raw, but I love the Glocks. (Didn't think that I ever would, I was one of those people) I've thought of relieving it on the right side, under the trigger guard but haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. I have seen that modification done though, so it isn't just me I guess. And... I think Glocks are dead sexy! (I own Sigs, Kahrs, a CZ, and an XD... I'm not a Glock-A-Holic... I'm getting there though.)

Good habit to safety check when receiving a weapon or handling, but there's no need to do it on camera. But if you're going to do it on camera, just do it without talking about it or dwelling on it.

Hi: I sleep with my handguns, striker fire, glock 26 and 43. I wear them on my belly holster. Speaking of safety: should I convert to Israeli carry at night time while I sleep? Is there anything unsafe about sleeping with striker fire weapon on my belly while I sleep? I wear two of them. Should I empty the chamber and pull the trigger each night before bed time? thx.
@AcheronLV-4266 жыл бұрын
Few things: 1) unless the trigger is well-protected in a holster, there's always a chance something could pull the trigger. However, guns do not spontaneously fire, so the chances are low. But is it worth the risk? 2) there's nothing wrong with Israeli carry, especially at night in the event you trip or something while making your way to the bathroom or something. Again, what are the chances? 3) Israeli carry uses up valuable split-seconds of time, but is ultimately safe. My opinion: carry one on your person in Israeli carry and one, chambered, on the nightstand or nearby off-body. As long as you don't have children, this is safe. My question to you is what position do you normally sleep? Stomach, back, sides? This is important when deciding this.
